quick question: how else could you run the game but through steam?

 

By using the SteamCMD utility or by using the DedicatedServer.zip file from the tools folder to update your server.

 

Did you switch the source code to compile against 4.6.1 or is it just the runtime? This might be interesting for the source code crows and modding if yes.

We changed the target version. I'm not aware of any code written with newer features yet but some programmers have been itching to start.

You are the PB expert I know. Does that have direct implications on some things for the PB? Like null propagation being possible or such?

 

I must admit to being uncertain about this one; but I'm fairly confident that the CodeDom compiler won't magically support C#6 just like that. But... don't quote me on that

It does, however, open certain... possibilities. Possibilities that I've been speaking of before. About replacing the entire compiling system with a Roslyn powered one, stop messing with IL, just alter source code - and thus everything C# will just... work.

 

I will see what happens when the patch is out then. From what I read it should support it, but we will see

 

I was having trouble with the "for each" statement earlier in the week while it was running fine on others' machines. Which was very odd. Perhaps some new code snuck by last week?

 

This is one of the well known issues of the current ingame compiler.

 

Please ditch .Net and C# and go with a decent platform like JMokeyEngine or libGDX that uses Java.

 

If they don't want it to happen, they can turn off all the forum features that make these old threads pop up everywhere as if they were new threads. And I'm certainly not going to gloss through dates to suit your special tick.

If whomever administers this forum wants to prevent this from happening, then there are more practical solutions than to assume users will read every detail provided with each and every post. I am just implying that your tone was hostile - and a wee bit insulting - because, you know, stuff like saying people have ticks or irrational compulsions or have a skewed sense of intellectual gap.
