[Model request] Drone model

  1. Hello everybody,

    I'm working on a mod to add a MachePet like I like to call it, it's more like a drone, which stay on your right and receive orders like :
    - Stay here
    - Attack it
    - Patrolling
    - Repair
    ...etc
    But I have a functionnal system of control but I don't have the model 3D.

    So It's why I wrote this subject, I'm not a modeller but it's possible to create it for someone else so if someone is able to create it, it will be cool ^^.

    you could build such a drone with small ship blocks, add an automated ai script to it and add some simple commands to be activated through...
    well - first problem - you need to sit in a ship to actually control the drone, because keen restricted scripts to theire grids! xP

    search workshop for drone blueprints and/or scripts and you will find tons of stuff to that matter! :)

    i understand it - its just to hard/impossible to spend concerns on it, while theres a better solution that allows custimization ;-)
    but good lock & have fun at it :)
     
  5. So after a long time, if someone else can help it could be cool. Indeed I already scripted a lot of function but without the model I can't continue. I already scripted :
    - Targetting
    - Movement ( basic without animations )
    - Recognition the owner of the target
    - Protection / Attack and Goto logic.
    - Avoiding of object.
    - Shield.

    Indeed I can do a lot of thing and I woild like to have a model of drone which containd :
    - a camera ( visual because it will in a script )
    - one or two canon ( I can make after the subparts to animate it )
    - thursters ( like you want ^^ I will animated it anyway ).
    - may be a light spot ( agains visual because it's in the script )
    - may be amrs to take items

    And if you would like make more complex model which have a deplaybele shield or arms it's possible for me.

    have you tryed to use the stock player char model already ingame (for a proof of concept)?
     
  7. The character is not enough controllable, with my system I can have a total control on the model if it's a custom model made with customs subpart.

    Have you had any luck with this yet? I'd be interested in making a model. I noticed you said you made it with custom sub-parts, that's really interesting, could you explain that one to me, in how it works?
     
  11. Hi @Siridean2 ! It could be cool ^^ So you can make a first model I can explain you how to create a subpart system. Which software do you use ?

    i assume he uses either: maya, 3ds max or blender.

    im not offering help, but im currently learning 3d modeling and animating in Maya. and im kinda curious about that subpart system.

  13. I know how to do only with Blender and animated it when I have the model separated in multiparts. I'm sorry ^^, if you want begin to have ak ideaof how to do you can look at the original model of a turret. This model use subparts to animate.

    Hi, sorry for late reply. I use blender. I'm fine with creating subparts etc in blender I was just curious how it would all work on the code side. It seems you've found a way to have multiple block functions through subparts? I've only had experience with turret subparts etc.
