    FIRST IMPRESSIONS

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3nZhztxrx4

    I was lucky enough to get a pre-alpha build of Medieval Engineers from the Devs, so I realised that this called for a video on my first impressions! This also involved having to tear myself away from having so much fun and actually do something productive. Some areas are clearly WIP but the potential of this game is mind-blowing...

    I will have more Medieval Engineers videos coming in the next few days so stay tuned!

    MY FIRST CASTLE

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87z58s74qFI

    In this video, I show the construction of my first castle in Medieval Engineers with time-lapse photography. I'm pretty pleased with the location I chose for the castle too. It's going to be very fun to defend from barbarians and rival factions in the future...
    The castle took me a while to build but that was partly due to me still discovering what blocks were available to me. I hope to fit with a mechanical gate among other things.

    ONE BIG TOWER

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mANx3t719W8

    I take a brief look at the destruction mechanics of Medieval Engineers in a very unrealistic but epic way. Just look at all those fragments of stone! It is very satisfying to watch, believe me... and it will be even more so in the future when the falling debris is crushing your enemies.
    <div>
    I doubt you will ever get into the situation of having this much debris in a short space of time so I wouldn't worry about the performance drop seen in this video. But if you are trying to be crazy and create unrealistic monstrosities like this tower, then expect it ;).

    NIGHT MODE (MANUALLY UNLOCKED)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99xs3ACXCgQ

    After looking around in the games files, I discovered that I could create a slightly odd night mode for the game. I found a hidden night skybox which I replaced the default one with and then I had to edit some values in another file to remove the Sun. The result of this turned out to be pretty interesting...
    <div>
    It doesn't look the same as the night mode shown in the official announcement trailer, as I wasn't sure what else I had to change. The version I created isn't very good for actual gameplay as shadows are far too dark and light sources don't emit properly but for funky screenshots and some film it could be useful.

    I'm really looking forward to see what different weather we will get in the future as when combined with a full day-night cycle, could really change the atmosphere of a scene/battle and give more diverse gameplay.

    This already looks great, it will become truly awesome when we get our hands on the full set of mechanical blocks.

    Keep throwing your awesome creations upon us, you are really getting somewhere.

    Yep, while I'm not much for most social media, I will definitely keep an eye on this.

    Argh :D Can't wait for day/night cycles now. And more importantly, weather!

    Just the thought of sitting in your cozy castle during a nightly thunderstorm...
