    Summary
Logging is now available in Medieval Engineers. Players can cut trees to produce timber and scrap wood (these features will be more useful at the later versions of survival mode eg. for lighting fire).

Additionally, storage containers have been added. Currently there are three different types –small and big wooden chest and wooden barrel. Players can store items according to the volume capacity and size of each container by using the manipulation tool - point to the highlighted area on the container and press "T". Also, the option to change the player’s color and model has been moved to "K" button.

Lastly, axe has been added - it can be used as a weapon or as a logging tool if pointed towards a tree or a fallen log (L_MOUSE = attack/logging, R_MOUSE = block/crafting).

Can't play at the moment...dumb "work". Is the size of log you cut from the tree selectable, or standard? In other words, are all logs the same size, or can you make a single long beam from a tree?

I'm definitely curious how log/beam length will work in survival.

It's minor, but I do like how you have to actually cut the tree into logs. I play The Forest also, and when the tree hits the ground there, it automatically explodes into neatly sized cut logs. (You can then carry two of them on your shoulder too....). I know there's always a tradeoff between realism and realistic playability, but the more effort that goes into gathering resources, the more the finished product actually matters.

More importantly, if there are ways to cleverly increase productivity as you progress (horse-drawn sleds or winches, sawmill, etc), then that is just the more fun.

I hope we can use branches and leaves of the tree for something useful in the future.

No no no! You're doing it in the wrong order: first I need some sort of pulley to complete the device that will carry stones and logs to the construction site on top of the mountain, and THEN I can start logging and mining ... otherwise stones and logs will pile up at the mountain's foot. I suppose I could have peasants move the stone up there, but I'm not carrying all those logs myself! :D lol

Nice update, keep up the great work KSH!

    Really nice new features indeed.

I just hope we will get the ability to actually "look" into the containers to see all contents, instead of having to cycle through them. That feels like a preliminary solution at best.

    fixed that for you :)

Would be nice if we could nail rope end blocks onto the logs themselves, sadly we can't.

Am I the only one who can't find this option? Pressing "K" I can change the time, light settings, fog settings, but I have no option "to change the player's color and model"! Where is it?????????

You have to be looking at a chest or barrel(ithink) to change your characters clothing color
