Hey everyone, here's my very first small ship. It was fun to build, and I really enjoy the creative aspect of this game.

    Specs:

    2 gyros
    48 GW
    Thrusts 25
    Landing Gear 3

    Light - 20,642 kg
    Heavy - 14,540 kg

Here is what it looks like with heavy armor:

Nice aesthetic. However, the armor does nothing. Your guns, engines, reactors, hell, your cockpit's all horribly exposed. Furthermore, your reactors are not linked to any conveyors or storage tanks. I understand they need not be connected, but many people assume this will be required later.

    Well, I wouldn't say "horribly". lol :p

Hiding the reactors, guns, cockpit, etc., wasn't a concern when I was building this ship. I was just going for aesthetic value for my first attempt.

I had replaced the front reactors with solid blocks at one point, but it just didn't look right. The same with the ones in the back. It looks good having them exposed. The same with everything else.

The ship overall didn't look right having blocks around the cockpit either. I wanted this look and so I stuck with it.

Nothing needs to be connected to conveyors right now so I'm not concerned about that. If needed I can add that later.

    Thanks for the input though!

One of the most practical first ships I have seen. Great work.

Very clever ship, very impressive! I'd never have guessed it was your first if you hadn't told us. Keep up the great work! :)

Your first ship? Very good indeed. Mine was my sphinx--a terrible piece of crap. So now we'll all be expecting great things from you. Welcome to space engineers!

Yeah, it looks great! The only concern I would have is how it handles while shooting the guns. They look to be relatively centered, but it's hard to tell for sure. My worry is that your angle might drift while shooting.

I didn't even think about placement of the guns with respect to drift. I thought it was just part of having recoil in space.

The ship does drift with them in their current position. I'll move them around to see if I can fix that.

    Thanks!

If that's your first ship, I'm excited to see what you can make in a week or two! Very nicely done.

I've updated the placement of the guns to try and compensate for drift while shooting (thank you Catfish), although I wasn't able to eliminate it entirely without making bigger changes.

I've added a rocket launcher to each side as well, because this ship is fairly nimble and so I think is best suited as an infiltrator, and not a dog fighter. It can't take much direct fire, but it can fly in and out and hit a large ship/station quickly in the midst of battle.

And thus her name is now: Venom

    Thanks!

I am working on a new small ship right now, but I was messing around with this one and suddenly blew myself up while shooting rockets. The projectiles were actually hitting the front side of the ship and causing it to explode when firing while turning the ship rapidly. So I made one final design change on this so that no longer happens. :D
