    Awesome!
That image I was the most happy with among my entries.

EDIT: Will these screenshots make it into the game loading screens at some point?

imo the Snow one is to much Photoshop to count as a Screenshot, while it looks great it definitely doesnt show the real Game

Not hating or anything, but isn't the first place Original Space Engineers Scenes not too original? It is a loading screen already in the game. Or was the category meaning screens recreating the Original Release of SE?

It's became more hilarious, that if you know, how this image was created. Snow on the background- its in-game vanilla patricle effects, called "wheel_dust_snow" and "material_hit_snow", that has been attached to entities, have custom vector of spreading and gets controlled by mod-script.

Exactly. I have similiar misunderstanding in that category, thats why my entry for "Original SE scene" was declined.

Thing is it implies something that is not in the game, weather. I could also mod in some super awesome michael bay explosions and screenshot that but it wouldn't represent the actual game. Now what if they decide to put that screenshot into the game as loading screen? New players would of course think there is weather in this game

With all those elaborate designs winning the challenge, I'm left wondering how poorly my entry fared. Thought it was considered epic to a degree, but apparently not so much when compared to the winners. I mean, I didn't even use mods.

The snow one was epic af. The police one, where they are investigating the crash was clever. What I didnt like was that the police skin won 2 places in a category. Both are good, but wasn't there any other good entry with other skins? The police vs. prisoner scene will make a great loading screen. It reminds me of other loading screen from when planets were initialy released. There are 3 pirate ships aiming at a guy on the ground (the image is so old, that the ships still have ion as thrusters in planetary gravity). I totaly dig how Evan Baxter's veteran skin fits the environment in the screenshot. Overall, I am very satisfied with the choosing of the winner screenshots and the frozen one is going on my desktop.

Congratulations. The first look like a image already present in the game.

... but it should have had the overlay showing the framerate of 2fps and sim speed at 0.01 :p

Following the same logic, reversed way : new players would instead understand that the game has an incredible modding potential and has a powerful built-in scripting feature. Stuff that could eventually be used to implement actual weather.

New Player: Where is the settings for weather? I saw cool snow in a screenshot
Old Player: There are none, it was a custom mod and script for the screenshot comp.
New Player: Cool, where do I get the mod?
    Old Player: You can't.
    New Player: ...

"Potential" and "eventually" of course mean it is not yet reality, but it could be.

Yeah, that's what it was supposed to be. Kinda a "then and now" comparison of the game.

I turned all graphics settings to maximum, used in-game AA setting. I had about 10 FPS, but it was worth it.

That's exactly the intention. The definition of the category was to:
Based on my interpretation of the rules (specifically the word "recreate"), which I judged to be the most restrictive of all the categories, I opted to replicate one of the original images as best as possible with the current build. The only mod in use was the old skybox.

I looked over the entire set of original images, and I choose the one which was the most iconic to me.
That image took me probably 6+ hours to set up and edit. There was a little Photoshop used, but only because I had to composite the three source images together (due to three engineers in the scene).

The fact that some people are saying it looks like the one already in there is a compliment to me, that was the intent. :D

Xocliw showed every single entrant on his stream. You can access the VOD (for now) here:

Oh, is very succeeds. It looks as if you have 3 players in the game so much that it's done right.

for real though how hard could it be to mod weather in?
with all the delightful sim speed killing features of snow voxel building up and potentially burying your base..requiring hand drilling or even heating the metal so snow can't build up.
    .
I really do like the thought of it raining on an earthlike planet....and hearing the rain impacting the bullet proof glass.
the closest i can get to that is running around fallout 4 with the hazmat suit on while its raining since you can get a wet look from rain.

Just wasn't sure, since I didn't look into the contest, just by reading the categories posted on the winners. I was not sure if it meant Original as in something new or recreate an original. Wasn't trying to cause a fuss or disagree. :)
