    Well, sand and other semi-fluid things alike might work like water, but solid rock? I'd doubt that would work. Mmghh... It's a bit of a far cry.

    ive worked in mining, they are used to clear large rock rubble to crushers because conveyors are too fragile.

    Mining would be excellent for archimedes screws, cus they could extract ground water from the bottom of Pitts
