Building an assembly that is a hollow square pipe, one side at a time, using buleprint and a welding wall.

Each side is the same, a collection of grinders connected by conveyor tubes, interleaved with light armour blocks, and a few conveyors.

First side is pulled past the welding wall just fine.

Keeping "retain blueprint projection" checked, I rotated the blueprint projection to position the second side (connected to the first) and start pulling the second wall past the welding wall.

But this time the conveyor tubes do not weld, although the other blocks weld OK. When I approach a tube that will not weld with a hand welder it does not show the UI pop up, so hand welding doesn't seem viable either.

If I manually build a tube on top of the projected image the wall welds it immediately, so the projection is correctly placed.
