Does the engine allow longer spotlights?

    I would like to create 500m long spotlights (the actual lights), is this possible in the current engine?

    I'ts possible. It's been done. The results were not what you would expect.

    Lighting in this game is just... what's the word I'm looking for...

    I use this mod to extend the maximum range of all vanilla lights. It used to add new blocks but now it only changes the radius of effect slider to the control panel for the light itself.

    Good enough. The bleedthrough can be a pain but if you get creative can be used to your advantage.

    We are advised to use spot lights sparingly as all the shadow calculations can slow the game. It seems mad then to have quite a few shadows built into the lamp. I would prefer my spot lights to be more spotty and less stripey. I also would also like a high power version and a slider for beam focus or width.

    @Mollymawk Fyi the built in "shadows" aren't shadows, just a projected image. So they don't affect performance like that.
