I'm unable to get a DS instance we've been using to start immediately after a successful upgrade of Windows 10 Feature Update to version 1703. The Windows Event Log (Application) reports 4 errors:

I've disabled Firewall and AntiVirus before these attempts. These errors occur when starting a DS world instance from the ME DS Admin window. There aren't any current DS log files created by the DS instance. I can attach the files referenced above if necessary.

A local Space Engineers DS instance is also failing in the same manner.

The same VRage stack trace shown in error #3 above also occurs with a brand new DS instance.

Have you tried reinstalling the services?
I just ran a startup on a new server on 1703 without a problem

Hey Capt! Will that require uninstalling and reinstalling the game to reinstall the services?

So I created a new Instance with the DS Instance Manager and it won't start. It gives the same set of errors. I removed it and re-added it, no dice. I also fully uninstalled the game from the server and re-installed it. Same errors as above. Thoughts?

Is this a relevant article on the issue? https://github.com/dotnet/coreclr/issues/10826
I don't think I've had dotnet installed on our server: > dotnet --version
'dotnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

yeah, there's a .NET update for 4.7. I believe it has some kind of necessary fix in it. I've seen it recommended all over the place with 1703. It was installed automatically on our test server by MS. That could very well be it.

I downloaded the MS .NET Framework redistributeable from here (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=55167) and it refused saying I already had the 4.7 version installed. Only up to 4.5.1 is listed in the Add/Remove app. I have to assume it's correct, that I have 4.7 installed. I don't know how to uninstall it so that I could re-install it.

So that makes sense based on (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/as...mework-is-included-in-what-version-of-the-os/). I'm running Windows 10 Creators Edition - 4.7 is baked in. And my server registry shows I have 4.7.02046 based on this article (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/do...-determine-which-versions-are-installed#net_b).

It appears that I was incorrect. I was speaking about https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...rk-4-7-for-windows-10-version-1607-and-window
This was necessary on our Windows Server 2016 box. I'm currently at home and I've just verified that I'm able to install and run the server on 1703 here, as I was at the office. If you are having an issue then, at this point, I can only guess that you had an issue with the Windows update or there is some configuration problem on your machine that is preventing it from running. Is the game generating any logs?

No, the server isn't writing to any of the logs at (E:\Apps\Internet\Client\Steam\SteamApps\common\MedievalEngineers\DedicatedServer64\logs) when starting (I checked all of them). They were being written to before the update. The only logging information currently dumped is in the Windows Application logs. Any idea what it's trying to get access to (AccessViolationException)? Perhaps a driver failed to update. I didn't see any errors during the Windows Update to 1703.

I can uninstall the update. Do you recommend that or wait?

Well, that's not where the logs should be at all. Are you using a symlink to place them there?
The log folder for DS services is normally %programdata%\MedievalEngineersDedicated\{ServerName}\

Well, the logs you're referencing are definitely where you're saying they are. Those logs are named 'MedievalEngineersDedicated_<date>_<time>.log' and get created everytime the instance starts. However, the other logs I'm finding (without a symlink) are in the <me-install-path>\DedicatedServer64\logs and have names of 'connection_log.txt', 'connection_log_<date>.txt', 'content_log.txt', 'stats_log.txt', and 'configstore_log.txt'. Neither sets of logs have been written to since the Windows Update and when I try to start the server.

Looking more closely at the logs in the <me-install-path>\DedicatedServer64\logs folder, they look like Steam connection and status log files related to the instance(s).

Sir Moodz, are you getting the same errors as shown in the OP?

Capt, btw, I verified my ME install directory has Full Control permissions for System, Administrator, and Users.

It was working on my PC. It was after hours and I don't have passwords to other people's PC's. I've confirmed that it's not working on my home PC and when I get to the office today we'll have a proper look at it.

I'm having the same issue with Space engineers. Two computers, windows 10 pro x64. With 1703 I can't get dedicated server to run still, the other was rolled back to 1607 and that works. The 1703 has .NET 4.7. I posted the windows logs in that thread, as I didn't think to check medieval engineers forum.
