Rather than focusing on fantasy freebuild designs that are simply going to be too overkill or substantial for manual MP sandbox play I decided to try out a few design concepts for vessels of the pirate flavour. Avoiding potentially exotic and expensive items such as large reactors and engines where possible.

    The Mothership

The first one is a re-purposed and cobbled together mothership / tender from an old hauler I made at the beginning. You got to do something with all those captured civilian vessels right? It'll basically serve as your mobile home for your mad loots, supplies and repairs for self sufficiency for you and your buddies. It doesn't really have much in the way of armour, arms or speed since all the important parts should be saved for your actual warships.

    The Gunboat

The next thing I made for the flotilla was a small simple corvette built with one purpose in mind - speed with decent firepower. This ugly brute is designed to quickly chase down easy targets and run from anything bigger or nastier. With some modifications like moving the directional engines and weapon systems further back the hull it becomes a pretty damn effective ram-boarder for those more graceless pirating adventures since the hull has an armoured prow and remains mostly intact even at full speed.

    The Wolf in Sheep's clothing

The latest addition was this little commerce raider disguised as a hauler that uses guile rather than speed or firepower of other pirate vessels to gain the upper hand. Sometimes its best to be inconspicuous. Just fly up close to your victims, pop the outer hull facade and have your merry way with them. Sometimes social engineering and meta are two handy tools for all those potential pirates out there.
