How is it possible to grind Cargo Ships down with a stationary platform grinder?

    That doesn't work, some blocks take longer than others and anything over 0.001 m/s is too fast and they collide and the ship stops moving forward. One can set the rear thrusters to some small acceleration, but that wont keep the ship from angling off into space, nor does it work once the thrusters themselves get ground down and there is still a bunch of ship left. In short there is no sure fire way to ensure the ship gets ground down other than manually feeding it into a grinder array or using a grinder ship. Personally I prefer the grinder ship as it can also serve as a welder ship without transferring the components.

    Works great for me -- you just have to make sure your grinder array is big enough. 7x7, 10x10, 10x15... etc

    If your ship bounces, then its moving too fast.
    If it stops, then get a pusher ship to keep it going. maybe build a cage around your grinder array to keep stuff from floating away
    For the heavier ships you may need to slap an engine/cockpit/gyro on the opposite side for thrust and/or guidance.
