    Hi fellow space engineers!

Im trying to make a script that will render ASCII art of a ship attached to a programming block. Im trying to do this using the CubeGrid interface.
However, it does not seem to be possible to get the type of armor block in a given position.
It seems like armor blocks (Well non interactive blocks to be exact) will return true if queried by CubeGrid.BlockExists, but will return null if queried by CubeGrid.GetCubeBlock

Is there any way to get what block type is at a given position in a CubeGrid when said block is not a functional block?

If not, will it ever become a possibility, or is there some technical / game balancing issues that prevent this from being part of the modAPI?

No, you can't get any other interface or information from block which is not inherited from IMyTerminalBlock interface (afaik).
Not sure why is it so.
