So i have found depending on which direction you are facing will stop rendering the light affect of the corner lights and the interior lights. i have also found this is the same issue with hydrogen thrusters and most likely with the Ion thrusters

There appears to be limit on the number of lights that can be on-screen at a time. Xocliw saw this first-hand on our server and I've provided the team with a copy of the world. They're working on it.

I am aware of the light limiter but that isn't the issue that i am seeing. i am able to create for instance a grid of 500x500 interior lights and have a ring around of all the light that are in the allowed limit but for instance if i look in a certain direction all light in my FOV will appear to be off but moving my head back to the starting position will turn them on. i have looked around and a few angles will give me this issue. i have checked to see if maybe a planet in the distance is causing the issue but not that i am aware of.

I think you're both right. By "on screen" the game thinks "within your viewing arc." Meaning lights that are on in the direction you're looking, even if they are obscured by other blocks. I've seen this happen with the big ship I am building now: When the reactor room lights are on (and I have a lot of them) other lights dim, even interior lights placed on the outside, dim when I look in that direction.

I'm seeing the same thing, but only with the corner lights (I think). Pretty annoying.

I am seeing it with all types of lights, including spotlights. Emissions from thrusters also affects this, although the thrusters themselves don't wink out randomly.

Yep, you're right. It's all the lights and thrusters.

Ok, think I've got all of them for now.

Yes, Lights issue driving me nuts, seems to be the same one as listed in these bug reports:

So given that the spotlights I use to see on my mining ship were turning off when facing my base (despite it being over 2 kms away), I finally cracked and decide to test. (I had not noticed thrusters, but apparently that's an issue as well). This applies to both small and large grids too.

    You can have up to 255 lights in your field of view before they start turning off. However only 32 of them can be spotlights, any more spotlights, they start turning off. As follows;

(note: apologies for the Dropbox image views, It's been ages since I played on forums or with image hosting, so this is the quickest option...)

    "Spotlights, Large and Small"
    32 Large Spotlights https://www.dropbox.com/s/nccwyff8on6zaje/SpotsLrg.png?dl=0
32 +1 Large Spotlights, another has 'Gone out" https://www.dropbox.com/s/13438k3byyhtyho/SpotsLrgFault.png?dl=0

    Same for the smalls

Pretty much the max in view and still 'on'

Over the limit, so some on, others also on, but no light

    It's following me...

So yeah, as this has been happening for a while, I'm looking forward to it stopping. :) Cheers

Edit: Damnit, Meant to add issue still current in 1.184.700 it has easily been around since 1.180 (Escape From Mars Scenario was where I noticed it first)

    Still in 1.184.8
Just like to add I'm having this issue too, (the lights being off/on depending on viewing angle). It seems to be just on large grid too as the lights on my SG ships illuminate fine.
I've also noticed shadows grow and shrink depending on viewing angle too (moon in planet shadow, depending on angle the shadow was going from a point to encompassing the moon properly.
Guessing they are both symptoms of the same bug?
It's not a major bug but can be annoying so was wondering if there is any updated info on a fix being worked on?
