the greeks are not pictured because at the time there were no factions settling in that region. just as many moons are not shown on the map, and you don't have a complete, circular view of the system anyway. same thing with martians

Very fun read! Inspiring me to write some fleet battles.

Edit: also, I'm sorry, but should we post stories directly here or send them to you to post?

    ...
The smoke of cordite mixed with the dust of plastered concrete to create a foul humor that clogged respirators and turned marines into the silhouettes of ghosts. Wavelength communications were impossible under the crushing pressure of Jovian bedrock and C&C had all but broken down, the only frenzied transmissions from the chaos below coming from battalion level entanglement sets, designed to communicate with a support fleet in orbit. Battle had turned into a frenzied bloody brawl. Squad to squad, man to man, screams punctuated intermittent flurries of gunfire as fireteams collided in the dust and chaos.

And still the Ceresians advanced. By the merits of drug-fueled fanaticism or by the sheer brutality of numbers the marines moved deeper into the mountain enclave; room by room, hallway by hallway..

either method of sending them in works. if you post here you might want to include spoiler tags so people don't see walls of text.

The Lore IV guide has been updated with major resources/exports/imports of each civilization. Some improvisation took place where we weren't sure, so if you have issues then contact me.

The goal is to give each civilization unique advantages in the marketplace, and give us more ground for defining trade and solar civilization as a whole well into the future.

as always, view it in the spoiler below or on the Lore IV Guide

Hmm this is a lot of lore to take in. i really just wanted to start one of those corporations that everyone has. now i need to figure out where i can fit it in a complex timeline and stuff. for instance it has to have came before 2083

are you talking about starting a corporation within our universe, or starting a different lore entirely?

Good to have the trade lore down and established. I like how this could even influence fleet doctrine, fleshing out the strategic differences between the three factions.

Edit: do we want to update the dropbox timeline to reflect the conclusion of the Europa conflict?

well right now the only way we are adding corporations is with them being part of earth. in this way, they gain little independence (they are under a state-socialist government meaning that all corporations are nationalized, monitored, and answer to the government with little freedom to deviate without proving treasonous). This is for 2 reasons: 1) we want to flesh out earth lore more, so people like Churrosaur here are giving us some interesting dynamics by portraying a corporation caught in the middle of the revolution, and 2) because this keeps us, to be completely honest, from having to constantly come to you and ask for your input when moving the timeline forward and coordinating the lore between factions (which is already tedious as it is with many who lose interest in their respective factions over time, or simply get caught up in real life issues). if you'd be ok with that, then we can talk about it, but if you're looking for more independence you probably want to seek other alternatives.

what about the timeline do you not understand?

and yes @The Churrosaur we will update the timeline soon, i've just been procrastinating lol

Huh i thought the corporate overlords ruled everything???.
also whats the deal with mercury why would anyone claim venues before Mercury
the crushing pressure of venus makes it nearly impossible to put any equipment on it as well as the heat
plus mercury might make a solar power facility since you could just set up a slow moving base to keep up with the day night cycle

"corporate overlords" depends on which civilization we are talking about, as there are multiple

the Venus colonies are atmospheric, which is an actual concept. Venus is also an easier colony to maintain, with the atmosphere providing radiation protection, atmospheric heat used for power, possible water extraction sites (in the atmosphere), and shorter transit windows between the planet and earth. Mercury is a ball of rock with massively fluctuating temperatures, no radiation protection (while being exposed to far more radiation than the others), and few resources that you can't acquire from the moon

In the early years of the 22nd century, an intelligence war erupted between the RIA of Phoenix, and the spies of House Ramirez (of the CEU) who infiltrated their society). This story gives a snapshot of one of many incidents during that time.

as always, you can also read the story here

    explanation of the ending

Corporate Politics has been updated to reflect where each corporation went after the Europa Conflict subsided.
This mostly includes references to matters like XER's re-appearance and the expansion of markets into the Ceresian territories after the war.

The timeline should also be updated soon to 2107

The Overview Guide has also been updated at the bottom to include a full list of all of those involved in the many parts of this lore. If anyone was left out, let me know. This list includes everyone from those who have their lore established to those who have yet to fully do so, but are, by this point, "officially" part of the lore

added a new, shiny political structure chart to the Lore I guide to replace that outdated and crappy looking one that was there before
in addition to looking better, this one actually is up to date, shows off logos, and gives brief descriptions
@Zerberus's Zerbtech will be added once we've decided which corporation his will start off as a subsidiary under

The Timeline has also been brought up to date

finally, the RIA also has a new logo. Went a little Caldari on this one:

    Lore III: Military Structure

Updated the guide to include the uniforms of the High Admirals and High Generals
Also added uniforms for the RIA, RTD, and ISS. Descriptions of the divisions of each organization were also added.

    General Timeline

Updated the timeline to be a bit more readable by making the date markers more clear, merging redundant cells, and highlighting major events like the founding of organizations or the various wars. The Earth Civil War has also been updated up until 2104 (A guide about the War will be published in the next few weeks).

    To Do:
    Finish Earth Civil War Guide
Add ASY dates to the timeline

The Uniforms and timeline are looking sharp LC :)

Quickly about the civil war writeup- It seems somewhat unlikely that Earth and the ESC would simply roll over and propose terms after having a major city glassed from orbit as, essentially, a terror act. Especially with their 'conventional' forces in somewhat of a position of power I feel like the destruction of Hong Kong would be honestly more galvanizing than demoralizing- something more akin to 9/11 or Pearl Harbor for both the common people and the ESC as an institution.

I still love the idea however- maybe Horus actually manages to launch a series of crippling strikes (both orbital/martian industry and Hong Kong to prove a point) and bring the ESC to the table? I feel like the only way to demoralize the people enough that riots/strikes etc for peace actually start to affect Themis is through consistent, effective terror bombings- and If Horus had the power to nuke Earth into submission (of if a single strike is enough to cause a planet to surrender) I’m not sure they’d be looking to simply ‘buy themselves more time’.

Although keeping the current narrative, we could have it as a set up to begin to turn the people against Themis, with the ESC government viewed as weak or ineffective for giving in to brinksmanship.

Alternatively we could roll with the 9/11/Gulf of Tonkin route, where the strike on Hong Kong is somehow a one-off (snuck into low orbit as a cargo ship etc.) and provokes a long, costly (naval war? Ground war is much more thematic, maybe a failed invasion of Luna?) on the part of the ESC. After several years the war inevitably grinds to a halt against asymmetric tactics and a significant popular anti-war movement (This would be riots and strikes since the ESC isn’t going to listen to a bunch of picketers and could also tie into the founding of the DPS and the Themis crackdown) and the conflict then stalemates to the aforementioned ‘cold war’ before the subsequent resurgence of Horus.

I guess kind of what it comes down to is whether or not the Hong Kong incident is terrorism or the invention of the nuclear bomb. Either way I love the way it's heading!

Also sorry if this totally not the place to discuss WIP content. I've got a few stories running on the backburner if I need to save this post :p

try viewing it now. I dilated the conflict a bit to be a bit more reasonable.

    Awesome. It's looking pretty good.

I'm not entirely sure both the crippling attacks on Themis industry and the terror bombings are necessary- I made some edits to reflect that, but you can revert them back if you don't agree.

Do you think we should create a separate Phoenix proposed lore/discussion thread for this kind of conversation?

Edit: actually the 'view diffs' tab on the edits menu is just for seeing your unsaved changes- I'll just include this here. It definitely needs work, I'll edit it tomorrow.
