This mod takes place before the end of Lord of the rings.

    This mod Would/Could add-
    • Middle Earth map (Imported by Height-map, as accurate to Detail as possible (Fangorn forest)).
    • Hold off on the Structures for now.
    • Choosable LOTR races For multiplayer (Elves, men, Dwarves, Orcs. for Multiplayer).
    • LOTR specific Items. Foods, Swords, etc (for immersion).
    • LOTR Weapons. (Faction Specific).
    • Other important Things.

Some guys are working on a Height-map in Outerra.

Just click THIS LINK, imagine it here and wave...

In addiction, they are given it for free plus all the data.

This would be amazing to see! Especially if the map is able to have accurate topography (Relative ground height and surface features, such as forests, rivers, etc.). I hope the structures, towns, and cities will eventually be added because I think that is what Medieval Engineers would really excel at. I wholeheartedly support this!

It's no coincidence that Medieval Engineers share the same initials as Middle-earth ;)

You'll get my full support if the mod allows us to build in Mordor-Style, iron plated walls and such.
I'd be listening to Minas Morgul and Behemoth all day while building the black gate.

Don't forget a full scale Moria!

If a Dwarf Fortress player did it, and I believe it was also done in Minecraft, ME shouldn't be left behind.

Actually i was referring to the Black Metal band Minas Morgul (yes, they founded the band before the LOTR movies came out) but the soundtracks are really good too.

So, I've started a Moria map (on Steam Workshop) for fun, it may not be entirely full-scale but it seems big enough. Lots of work left, but I'll be upgrading and adding to this map continuously over the next few weeks:

Mines of Moria on Steam Workshop, Medieval Engineers

Perhaps this can be integrated into the LOTR conversion mod at some point?

    Thanks!

Hey, I'd be happy to help with 3D models, basic texturing, heightmaps etc.
The main hurdle will be the puny limit of 8km by 8km for the maps, but there's no harm in just doing a certain area and condensing it. (ie. Rohan map with Isengard, Helms Deep, Edoras, Fangorn etc)
I've been having fun with creating maps with height maps already. At the moment I've been using a 10,000 x 10,000 pixel height map of Middle-Earth and just cropping it down to the required 8192 x 8192. Looks okay but it's way too condensed :p (The spot where the black gates of Mordor should lead into Udun is like a corridor width haha)
