According to the wiki, oxygen converters turn 3kg ice into 1 O2, and a large ship oxygen tank fits 100,000 O2. That would mean 150,000kg of ice to fill it completely. Which seems a bit insane, and indeed the ingame behavior is different. From some basic testing, it only took 33,333.37kg of ice to fill a large ship tank.

I would guess then that IceToOxygenRatio in CubeBlocks.sbc is misnamed; it's actually oxygen-to-ice ratio. 100,000 / 3 = 33,333.33... which fits observed ingame behavior.

So 1kg of ice is actually ~48 seconds of life support. 30,000kg is ~400 hours. This might need balancing...

    Hi there,

If the numbers appear incorrect, you are free to modify the pages in the wiki. You first create a new account first on the wiki itself, then you may proceed to do so. Everyone is more than welcome to help contribute to the wiki, no matter how small it may be. Otherwise, it will take time before I or others get to it. The numbers seem somewhat off though. Also with the new re-balancing of blocks and other mechanics as of update 01.095, it has greatly slowed our progress. The wiki only recently started getting a nice big cleanup. There is a lot of catching up to do, and any small bits of help anywhere are greatly appreciated.

First off I think your math is a little off. 100,000 x3 is 300,000. And it sounds like you were on 10x with slight rounding issues.

I had made this post to see if I was missing something. It looks like I may well have.

Oops, I was thinking small ship. That would indeed be 300,000kg.

This was a test save... with everything on 10x. Huh. I wasn't aware one of those settings affect the efficiency of oxygen generators. Which?

-E- Nope, I guess that save was indeed on 1x. I did a second test and doublechecked everything was indeed on realistic. Still only used 33,333kg to fill a large tank.

I changed the wiki to what seemed correct in my math, that is 1 kg Ice = 9 O2.

According to Physicalitems.sbc, an Oxygen Bottle can store 100 units of O2, so, putting one empty O2 bottle along with 100kg of Ice in an Oxygen Generator resulted in a full oxygen bottle and 88.89 kg of Ice. This turned in to math is 100 kg = 88.89 kg + 100 O2, and assuming that 88.89 kg = (8/9) * 100 kg we get:

    100 kg = (8/9) * 100 kg + 100 O2
    100 kg /100 = ((8/9) * 100 kg + 100 O2)/100
    1 kg = 8/9 kg + 1 O2
    1 kg - 8/9 kg = 1 O2 + 8/9 kg - 8/9 kg
    1/9 kg = 1 O2
    (1/9 kg) * 9 = 1 O2 * 9
    1 kg = 9 O2

The IceToOxygenRatio(= 3) in CubeBlocks.sbc must've been applied like this:
    100,000 O2 * (1/9) = 11,111.11 kg Ice
    11,111.11 * IceToOxygenRatio = 33,333.33 kg
    Hence, your result, roothorick.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.
