I was wondering if there is anyway of having Gatling turrets eventually share ammo boxes?

Do I always have to manually divide the ammo up to conveyor connect turrets or will the greedy turret share the ammo when the others need some?

because any time i'd make the assembler crank a few out ammo boxes one is always greedy and nicks all the ammo boxes one by one, while the others are left with nothing to shoot with but angry stares [aiming at their target]

If you want to control ammo intake without scripting, you can use a sorter block and turn it on and off to choke that greedy turret. You can always put a small cargo container after the sorter to create an ammo magazine for that turret. Granted, using an inventory management script is probably the least costly and ensures that each turret has a specific amount of ammo at all times. TIM also has a fail over system where you can have multiple programmable blocks running the script and if the first one fails, the second one takes over. On a warship, redundant is good, especially when the block responsible for feeding all of your turrets grinds to a halt or explodes. You might want to keep a toggle on your toolbar for the conveyors in your group of turrets in case they have to be manually fed.

A simple patch solution to the problem is to drag the ammo out of the gun that is hoarding and put it into a cargo container. If there is enough ammo to go around each tick it will distribute it evenly.

I would still rather not see a ton of gatling cargo space slots when I look at my cargo manifest. If we could permanently hide them or NOT have cargo space in the turrets in the first place, that would be swell.

Um....you know that there is an option to hide blocks in the inventory screen right? It's a toggle in the console menu.

I consider an inventory management script (TIM, Barabas, etc) a must have survival item. I won't play a game without it.

You can hide blocks in the block control tab but, NOT on the inventory screen as far as I am aware. I guess I will have to search again next time I play. Can't ATM since I am having weird gfx issues on certain games and may need to reload drivers or something. My gtx 980 TI hybrid is slightly stuttering to display the game. :( I hope its not one of the cards with a bad water pump.
