    pls. consider this.

    - you could have a hotkey that would toggle between 3 modes when using 'f' in empty hands. -use, edit, and pickup. or even a scroll option for the same like for the block groups.
this way there would be no need for a new key binding only a filter for the actions.

    - this filter could instead affect the left/right click functions and leave the 'f' key as is.
so instead of pickup/pull. it would give you 1 - 3 different functions for the blocks you are interacting with (when counting the mmb), while keeping it all bound to your mouse controls for ease of use. lmb, rmb, scroll wheel and mmb.

the lmb / rmb could in the case of the crank wheel be the up/down functions.

the suggestion is based upon very unfortunate block pickups, while building / using.

keep in mind that this should only affect grid interaction and not floating objects. and is just a filter/mode for empty hands. no other major changes to gameplay will come from this.

also: see this thread for alternate suggestion, and a short description of issues with the way the game currently is.
