    Summary
Hello, Engineers! This week we've got a big update for you! We added seven new blocks to the game, with the visual inventory blocks as the main highlight! This system allows you to instantly see what is in an inventory of these five new blocks by looking at the block in the world. There is a Weapon Rack for your weapons, a Dining Table for food items, and Shelves for small and medium sized items. There is also a Bookshelf block for storing research schematics.

Next, we bring you Timber and Log Stockpiles for storing your building materials. The Stockpile blocks use our area inventory system so there is no need to run back and forth to your stockpile inventory while building your castles! Unlike storing these items as physical objects, these blocks have no negative performance impact while adding to the immersive atmosphere of your worlds.
    [IMG][IMG]

We have also added a Trapdoor Block. It is a simple wooden door that allows for vertical access through floors.

But that's not all! We're moving on to the next iteration of our new quest system with the introduction of the Quest Log (found under "K" key). The Quest Log is able to toggle the quest tracker on your HUD, shows you your active and finished quests, and it allows you to abandon active quests. We would very much appreciate some feedback about this feature, so do not hesitate to voice your opinions in the comment section! :)

Last, but not least, we have some new features for our modders. The stockpile component our new blocks are using is available for modding, along with new and improved entity components and Event System.

Also, watch last night's live stream event where we show off these new blocks and Marek "The Boss" Rosa answers questions about the new HUD in Space Engineers.

    New Blocks
    - Timber Stockpile
    - Log Stockpile
    - Weapon Rack (able to store weapons and tools)
    - Shelves (able to store small and medium items)
    - Dining Table (able to store food items)
    - Bookshelf (able to store research scrolls)
    - Trapdoor Floor Block

    Other Features & Modding
    - New Quest Log, open it by pressing ("K"), this key binding can be rebound.
    - Stockpile component added
    - Spinning wheel now plays animation while it is crafting.
    - New entity components
    - Event system added

    Fixes
    - The chair can now be placed on the voxels.

    Update 0.4.14.95994:
    - Fixed inventories being reset. Sorry. :(

    ME 0.4.14.96013:
    - Another fix for the inventory losses, please load your backups and confirm if it is okay now.
    - Fixed the crash that we introduced yesterday. It's the only new crash that was happening according to the logs.

This Looks great thanks alot Keen

I think it would be a nice idea if you would be able to write your own Texts you could read them like in the quest Screen and store them in the Bookshelf.
this would be a nice idea to leave notes for other Players. :woot:

Oh my god...Each tuesday i hurry to see the ME updates, even if it's just bugfixes. And when you're so generous, you have worked so hard, and you take into account the community ; I do a cardiac arrest. I can not wait to test it all.

Trapdoor doesn`t work with the Wooden Stairs. Can you fix this? That would be awesome!

Can you make a bug report with a screenshot? We didn't have a problem with stairs in testing so we'd like to see how you are doing this.

Hey guys, there's a known bug with the inventories being reset. Our compatibility helper is not working and not correctly converting saves.

    Current work-around:
Go to your saves directory, open your save folder, (I hope you have a backup..) and open the .sbs file in a text editor.
Then, find-and-replace MyObjectBuilder_CargoContainer with MyObjectBuilder_CubeBlock and save your file.

Then reload the game, and most of your inventory should be restored.

We will work on a hotfix asap, but for the mean time; here's a workaround. :)

    Sorry for the problems!

    *Edit*
Issue found, compatibility helper was testing against games with version 0.4.12 because the system was implemented back when the game was still at 0.4.13. It was not correctly updated to 0.4.13, so the newer saves were not migrating correctly.

Pushing hotfix in ~5 minutes when it finishes building.

    *Edit 2*
Hotfix is out, make sure you are running 0.4.14.95994.

Sorry,i was meaning: You have to crouch through the Trapdoor, because you're too tall or something. I can place it,but i have to crouch,if i`m using the Wooden Stairs. You know, what i mean?

We tested that quite a bit. It should work if the door is not rotated sideways. That's why I asked for the screenshot ;)

Thanks for that workaround with resetting containers; saved me from a spot of bother.

Looks like it was only tested with stone stairs. They work perfectly.

Should the stockpiles fill up by total items, not stacks? Right now stack of 5 timber is visible as just 1 timber, does not seem right.

I think I know why there is no stone stockpile...when you add stones to a stockpile they look black
