About the inheritance of velocity: why not make it that if the blocks placed in the opposite direction of the player-movement then it's placed with no velocity, else it inherits the velocity AND ACCELERATION (so this would be a kind of artificial dampeners).
That way we wouldn't have a problem with accidently dying and there could also be an option to turn this off or just do it as it's now.

To clarify: in the options we have "no velocity", "always velocity" and "adapted velocity" or something like that.

Good tradition, Keens. Each time you tell about multiplayer improvements - everything becomes a lot worse then before. Even when it thought that there is no way to do it worse. Sim speed 0.05? No problemo! We'll prepare improvements!

I'm kinda surprised they didn't mention about new dark color theme for the forum.

No matter, it's finally here. You're welcome, everyone! :D

    Why is everything black now?

Edit-fixed it. It looked nice, but it was hard to read anything.

I think it would make the most sense to allow each player to make the choice in the Game Options menu, allowing it to reflect their preference like how we can with the block placement methods.

    I got a good idea.
Put a threshold of 15 m/s. But, only when the jetpack is turned ON.
There should be no need for a threshold if you are walking on a grid. ( moving or not )
My reasoning is: It take more time to stop moving completely with the jetpack than it is when you're on foot.
Also, if you are standing on a grid, you'd expect to be able to build something "relatively static" even if you are moving at less than 15 m/s.

**- Newly placed blocks inheriting the velocity of the player**
    not bad.
I can finally build another ship on the move without violently slamming myself and ship to death.
.....you know if i felt the need to take such a suicidal risk in survival...
suppose its more of a creative feature to assemble a ship while moving fast.

hold da funk up.........those sunglasses were broken!!!!

    EDIT:
..........oh dear......hang on a moment...could this be exploitable?
....fearful.....fly at 100m/s towards an enemys base...

place a bunch of 1 steel plate refineries....
they keep moving at the same speed....slamming in a base...
the poor turrets couldn't do anything because they couldn't target
the refineries because there was no computer chips on them!
and setting turrets to target moving unusually makes them shoot your own ships to pieces.

    ..FEARFUL..
I can already imagine accidentally placing a new grid inside a large ship and it just tears it apart...
    :/
feels like survival and multiplayer just got a bit more punishing....

@Xocliw ! The hell is THIS? My asteroid's inside looks like the lining of a bear's areshole. Presumably. I don't know, i can't see shit in a bear's arsehole, which is pretty much the problem here.

Even if one LIKED complete fucking darkness... you see those Corner Lights? Sure, they're not Spotlights, but they're on maximum range and the ship STILL almost bumps into the voxel before i see it. Who, WHO greenlig... blacklights decisions like this without a graphics option? Without it being in the patchlog?

You know, I've got like a million spotlights plastered all over my ship and you still cant see it until you're right on top of it.

    Then it blinds you.

Not sure if it should be like that...

    Technically untrue.

Does this mean we get real darkness?

Yeah... i mean, i don't like complete darkness from both a gameplay and stylistic point of view (seriously - i need to see shit to work on shit.). But 1.) I'm colorblind so i already had trouble seeing in the dark as it was until yesterday, and 2.) the fact that lighting has. not. ever. worked correctly in DX11 really doesn't help here. Fix the goddamn Spotlights first, then you can implement nonsense like... this.

Nope, still broken. KSH, how can you let merge blocks sit broken for this goddamn long when a player managed to hand a fix to you on a silver platter? The one I just quoted, in fact.

Here it is - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=871464450 all you have to do is slap that missing mount point back into place and half the playerbase will magically stop being pissed at you on a weekly basis.

The game's still complaining about my Intel card's drivers being "out of date" (they're not), and it's also still not saving the fullscreen setting. I haven't even been able to play for weeks - no - months now. Barely any dev or mod response on the bug reports, too. What do? :(

Maybe I'm missing something with the "inherited speed" thing.

Should the block not inherit the speed of the grid you place it on? If you are at 0m/s and a ship passes you at 50m/s and you manage to place a block on it the block should now be on the grid and moving at 50m\s. Should have nothing to do with your speed.

Any new grid should be started at 0m\s you could add a threshold like 15m/s that you have to be below to start a new grid. This would stop people accidentally creating a new grid while trying to fix something on a moving grid.

    @Gnarles
The velocity inheritance thing is only for when you create a new grid.
If you really want people to need to stop moving to be able to build, expect a lot of disagree (from me at least).
There are cases when the velocity inheritance is needed. Especially when you want to build a small ship while inside the hangar of an other ship traveling.
Without velocity inheritance, you'd be throwing blocks backward on the wall.
