Update 1.183.3 - Beta Improvements

    Hello, Engineers!

    This weeks update is a bit smaller than most since we are working hard in the background on goodies to share with you.

    As for the fixes we have addressed multiple crashes in single player, multiplayer and certain crashes that happened when using modded blocks. The protobuffers added to the save game will further improve the loading and saving time.

    We have no quote for you today but we will be very glad to see you next week.

    Fixes:
    • fixed multiple crashes
    • fixed objects not rendering visually on load
    • fixed cosmetics reverting when exiting cockpit
    • added protobuffers for save games
    Hotfixes 1.183.301:
    • fixed FPS drop when pasting grid
    • fixed never-ending loading at the end of the campaign
    • fixed graphical glitch at the end of the campaign

    DAMMIT! Did you guys just add a check that insures there is a blueprint class for components, Because there goes my trick too making sure players cant build modded blocks that are suppose to be only used by npc's

    The rotor offset adding still is here :/ (every time a rotor gets placed, repasted or the game is reloaded, rotors add 4.5cm to offset)

    Yes i get to keep the moo saw while flying around and grinding without it going back to normal! ^^
    I got the cow textured saw and have noticed that one bug happening.

    I do wonder about wheels every now and then but thats ok. im enjoying the parachutes right now.
    their use in the drop pods are an excellent way of showing how useful they can be

    laststandgamers made a very interesting concept of using a projector to shoot a straight line grid into space so you can align and drop a cargo container with a parachute attached for it to safely deploy its chute and land....
    It's uses seem very useful for say a space mining vessel dropping its cargo load towards the main station

    Its called Space Engineers - Laser Parachute Care Packages

    I have a doubt with the new proto buff savegame, I see that there are now 2 files SANDBOX_0_0_0.sbs Y SANDBOX_0_0_0.sbsPB The sbs xml is no longer used or the game is still saved in both, but is it loaded from PB for fast loading?

    I ask this, because for example, the other day my server did not get up, and I had to edit the xml savegame by hand to remove the timers that were causing it to not up (always have to be doing some kind of modifications inside the savegame, cleanings, etc) And i wonder if it is necessary how can i make such modifications from now on

    If you need to edit the save, you can delete the PB file and edit the sbs - it will just load a bit slower the next time, and the PB will be recreated on the next save.

    Protobuffs are nice. I wonder how you can do only the protobuff loading improvements and not at the same time start to tweak and rewrite your domain models as well. I bet that there is some save format modifications and and 'old save does not work anymore' -issues coming soon ;)

    I guess they already have some conversion from domain models to XML. Now they have added that conversion to protobuf. If they rewrite their domain models, it would slow the game down to hell (in case of PB3), because it is doing that "lazy serialization" stuff, so it serializes/deserializes on the fly. You definitely don't want that in a game.

    If I had a dollar for every time a user has asked for that feature over the last three years, I'd be able to pay for Keen to hire another programmer just to make it happen...
