    Summary
Hello, Engineers! We have another minor update for you this week, but do not despair! We have big major build cooking in our basement, where we keep the programmers shackled and working. It should be ready for the release into the wild soon! (the update and the programmers)

    185.10.jpg

Also, if you want to participate in the Space Engineers Physics & Engineering Contest - there is one week left.
For more details continue to: https://blog.marekrosa.org/2017/11/space-engineers-physics-engineering.html

Poor programmers! Make sure they get at least one hour of sunlight a day, otherwise the Vitamin D deficiency makes them unproductive! Contrary to popular belief, coffee alone is NOT enough to sustain good code.

mhh - i am ATM pretty happy right now with the server sim speed (on my server no "big" problems ... run from the speed better as the last months ..)
But piston/rotors on DS an mess sometimes - and here i see the main problem ....
Wheels are not nice - but usable , except if you get to close with your engineer ... then wheels evil and bug you through the area ...

    regards

I sure hope the big update comes with some decor blocks. I could use some crew quarters, a kitchen, and so on to make my ships and stations feel less like prisons. Speaking of prisons, I hope there are decor blocks for a brig.

    ten weeks..
The next major has to be a super update that solves many (important) things, especially the forgotten dedicated server.DS are dead because of that .. including mine.
More time passes I see more and more players abandon space engineers and go to other more stable games, with more DS support, like empyrion galactic .. :(

I would argue that unless SE allows admins of DS to play on their own servers (which is the problem with my DS) the prospects of SE Surviving seems grim indeed. Also while I would love to see new blocks and mechanics at this point the modders can and should be the ones handling that aspect. The Devs should be focusing on fixing the lag, bugs, and other contributing factors to the declining population - once things are "truly" stable - they can resume taking mods into vanilla - doing so before just creates more issues than it's worth; and for the love of god: Stop changing "existing" mod API functions - the reason so many modders have left their mods in the dust is because you can hardly go a week without an update breaking a mod. There is a simple fix and it involves adding functions instead of changing them, and that's all there is to it.

I hope so, I've been a "they're going to fix it" believer for years, and lot of work maintaining DS but I notice how slow is the game dev, two steps forward and one step back, and it's not the fault of the developers, I clarify, it's the fault of (for me) wrong/un management of the company..

I do not / am not permitted to have an opinion, nor am I allowed to defend it.

Would be nice to fix block rotation issues with 2x1 corner piece ( doesn't remember its orientation when switching to a different block & then back again ). Likewise, gyros randomly orientate themselves even when 'T' is not enabled.

Will the power barrier be added to the game as in star wars, through which fighters fly by ?

Wait, is there now fire in the game? Maybe thats the hint? (and not just damaged blocks)

((as an aside, if theres fire in SE, there could be fire coming to ME))

How are you not able to play on your own dedicated server? I run a DS and have no problem playing. Granted that there are times when the other players need me to do admin things for them. I simply escalate to do whatever admin function they need, then go back to normal. The only area where an admin may have an issue is on a DS with block limits enabled and a grid respawn for another player is needed. (I get around it by using MidSpace Admin Helper Commands to temporarily re-assign ownership to one of my NPCs)

Also. Thanks Keen devs for the update and making one of the most engineering-centric games ever created!

Don't like the sound of that... don't you know programmers do lots of damage to the native wildlife if released irresponsibly... A programmer is for life... not just for Christmas... shame on you for looking to set such non-native wildlife loose on the eco-system!! :p

They should be kept warm, fed pizza, chips (fries), cake and biscuits (preferably chocolate bourbons or hobnobs) and given ample coffee, tea or coke... :D

Good news on the update though! :)

This must be one monster of a major update. Hopefully you're at least feeding those programmers and changing their newspaper every so often :woot:. Look forward to when you finally release it guys until then no complaints about the bug fixes.

It's so frustrating, I was expecting a major update since 4 weeks now, but I guess the bugs have to be solved first...

Your programmers are working too slow . . . You need to use a bigger whip on them. ; -)

All kidding aside, I do have a small request.

It really is no big thing and something I believe is a easy fix. Also there is no big rush to get it done.
I am referring to the advance menu and the day duration slider in particular.

If you hover your cursor, it reads "Adjust lenght of day cycle." [sic]
Changing "lenght" to "length" shouldn't be much of a problem.

As I have stated, there is no big rush to get it done

I know I'm nit-picking but everytime I see it, it bugs me.

I also know what you guys are thinking right now.

Here you are working yourselves to exhaustion trying to get this major update out and some guy brings up the most trivial, insignificant thing wrong in the game.

Well, as you know . . . there always has to be that one guy and somebody has to do it, so, it might as well be me. Besides, I always like rocking the boat. :)

I hope you guys and gals are having a good day over there. Looking forward to whatever that major update brings.

Don't forget to leave a plate of cookies down there once in a while for them. It helps to boost their spirits and make them not so grumpy and be more productive.

I read these update posts every time and it's been rather pointless recently. How about you put the changes in the steam announcement, too? It's only 4 lines.
