So I'm finding that inline queries are used here and there, particularly in the Components and Tools page which I'm in the process of retooling. Is there any reason for this besides laziness of generating the table manually? It is not often that things like a table of all the blocks in the game will change, and adding them manually as they are introduced seems preferable to forcing the server to regenerate the list every time the page is accessed.

This might be done to ease translation, but I'm not 100% on that. There might be some other reason for it too, which is why I'm asking here instead of nuking it from orbit. Thoughts on this from the more experienced editors?

pages are not regenerated on page access, only modification.

And certain things when they change would require massive changes throughout the wiki and inline queries remove that burden from editors.

Thus the mass of steel plates would only have to be edited once for all the values on all the pages on the wiki to be properly refreshed with a rebuild. Keep in mind the mass of each of the blocks is equal to the sum of the components mass.

Yeah, as time went on I saw that it's just on page update that the tables are regenerated. That's definitely acceptable.
