1. TyR included in list! Lots of good photos! =D

Hi everyone, I'd like to show off a few of my creations. I have a few ships I'm currently working on. Most notably right now is the Valkyrie combat edition, but also 2 other ships. Most will stay at "incomplete" because I'm also waiting on new updates (mostly rails, etc) to add them to the designs. :)

My ships have no specific design style as of yet (although some characteristic remain the same). All of them are more or less "experimental". As I build new ships & post them it will become noticeable some of my ships are different than others I make. I sometimes experiment with new hull, interior, and pattern designs. This is a progressive thing for me, and I hope others can appreciate my effort as time goes on in these projects.

I will upload information about more ships as time goes on and they are completed to my satisfactory. Please comment and/or even suggest tips for me if you like. Even suggestions for what type of new creations to work on.

Description:

The Valiant series - Valkyrie (Exploration class) ship stands a testament as not only being able to provide the needs for explorers & miners alike, but also protect them from all forms of attack. Like its sister combat ship, the Valkyrie can be identified easily by its "knight helmet" shaped bridge.

With large storage capacity, hanger space, and power efficiency it is a Space Engineers dream come true. The double hanger doors allow the engineers to fly straight in and out without hassle. V.E also comes with a secondary hanger below the primary one which serves as storage for smaller ships and/or creations.

The issue with every ship is having insufficient storage space. With V.E this is no issue. With 4 massive cargo containers, and 53 small ones you never have to worry again (with tons of room to expand!).

The other benefit the V.E has over many other vessels is power efficiency. With 96 batteries and 18 solar panels it can sustain itself for 4 days straight on in idle mode without the use of the 3 large reactors.

While V.E serves as the perfect ship for day to day needs, in times of war it is more than capable of repelling nearly any attacker. It's gun batteries are all placed strategically so they have maximum coverage from all angles of the vessel and with mixed variety. There are also 3 bridges in which to control the vessel, even in the unlikely case of it being severed, it still can power, move, and defend itself. In the event of enemies boarding, the ship is able to lockdown its hallways with blast doors and protect itself with interior turrets.

However with all it's advantages comes its own disadvantages. V.E only has 1 light armored hull protecting it. Unlike it's combat variant sister, it lacks a heavy plated hull. So while you will survive a massive attack, the ship will sustain heavy damage. The other issue with V.E like its other larger sisters is that it's very slow at accelerating and moving. So it may be outmaneuvered by smaller faster ships.

Description:

During a mining expansion in 2075, corporations often relied upon the typical military escorts to protect the shipping lanes & their product. However, raiding parties have become more bolder - even assaulting military vessels themselves with much larger ships and numbers. Even after a distress call is sent, there was little the responding small warships could do against the ever growing power of pirate factions. In late 2076, Valiant Shipyards was contracted to create a powerful response to the situation. Not long after, the TyR Battlecruiser was constructed and brought into service.

TyR was designed not only to respond to a dangerous situation against another warship, but is even capable of taking on several targets at once and function effectively. It is heavily armored with up to 3 layers thick in some places. It also brings a mass amount of firepower to the fight. But what really makes TyR special is it's spacial armor plating along its hull. This not only protects the ship itself, but the weapons as well. If the outer armor is hit, it wouldn't compromise the hull of the ship.

The next issue that many military type ships have is maneuverability. To give TyR's outer hull maximum effectiveness, Space Engineers increased the power of its rotational ability - giving the thrusters short bursts of energy to turn the ship faster (more gyroscopes). By doing this, the ship can rapidly face its most protective areas at its enemies at all times.

While TyR is very effective in combat, like many large ships it lacks acceleration speed. It is faster than many ships in its class, but it still takes time for it to respond to emergency situations. But let there be no doubt, that once it reaches its destination ... it delivers destruction upon its targets.

A very nice start Kayatami! You've managed to get a good bulky-industrial style which too many people managed to make boring but your level of fine detailing on it keeps the shape interesting and consistent from plenty of angles. Your interiors also show a lot of promise with some very nicely done rooms. Liking the action screenshot too!

Out of interest, doesn't your hanger door clip the floor/ceiling of the room?

Ty so much for the compliment. Originally started out as a box shape and I molded it from there. Not to give it too much curve, but enough so it doesn't look like a flying space box. I like these types of ships & their shapes.

It has no issues opening and closing with piston doors.

However, I notice with any ships using pistons ... I'll occasionally hear banging or as if something is knocking around. It's a very concerning noise, and usually only happens if the ship is going over 15 mps. But I never seen any damage to the ships themselves. I'm sure it has to do with the collision boxes around the blast door blocks. It still functions regardless, even when doing very sharp turns.

With some window dressing the interiors look like they'll be gorgeous, and I love the shots of it in action.

I feel awkward saying this, but I could only think about amusing vegetables when trying to describe the exterior. **blush**

I'm brainstorming a bit how I want the interiors to look on some areas of the ship, since the interior walls are separated from the outside hull I have a lot more to play around with.
I decided not to release it quite yet, seems like a cruel decision but I might start releasing them as more of the ships are presented. Right now I'm working on the combat version of Valkyrie (has a completely different interior, and slightly different structure), Tyr, Hlin, and also Thor.

Like as mentioned in the description, the Valkyre is very slow ship. It takes around 40 or so seconds to reach 50mps. The combat version is even slower, but it is going to have a bit more thrust to compensate.

Looks great, really love the design. You could have put a lot more big thrusters there though, they are more efficient in usage of free space. Also, that open bridge... I hope you have a secondary one deep inside, under layer of extra armour?

The Exploration version of Valkyrie isn't designed for combat, although can function very well if the situation occurred. The small thrusters over large was to save on energy more so than instant thrust from the large ones. The military version has many more large thrusters due to it having double the mass.

The exposed bridge concept has its dangers, but as mentioned ... there are 3 in total (two within the protective interior of the ship). There are windows on each side of the top deck of the tower overlooking the ship and surroundings. The sides are lightly leaned inward for protection, and the front is surrounded in armor.

In any case, to get a perfect shot into the top bridge windows ... someone would have to fly straight into the front of the ship which leaves them very exposed to the 14 turrets in the front.

V.E is more or less a "civilian" model of the combat version to clear up confusion. I'm working on the other one, but just testing out the new stuff in updates at the moment.

Nice! Looking great Kayatami! Really liking the design and your interiors are very well done as well. A very worthy follow up and I think this will be a fleet to watch in the coming weeks!

My only one, small little criticism: I love it when fleets have their own style - you've hit the mark very well with the actual design, but it would be nice to see the color scheme match up too! (For the record I like both, but I think the red is more unique currently, especially with the way it's applied inside too).

Ooo ... me like. Me like these very much, Kayatami. My favorite thus far is the Valiant (EDIT: derp, Valkyrie; Out of Coffee Error), but I love the shot you set up for the Tyr with all weapons blasting away. Looking forward to seeing more!

I think TyR has been my most detailed ship yet ... the outer hull was frustrating to mold with only 4 shapes to work with. x.x

I agree on the colour fleet matchup. However, when I was painting TyR's hull, I noticed the orange didn't feel right with this type of ship. I felt a different, more stronger, and more presentable colour was needed for TyR. There is also the issue with heavy armour colours, some don't fit very well with it. Perhaps it was its shape. So when I was finished colouring the outer hull, I made the decision to change it.

For the moment, it'll remain red and V.E will stay orange. But, the Fleet series might go in the direction of:

• Cyan
• Blue
• Red

I think I might make a final decision after I either finish the combat variant of Valkyrie, or Virtus. After I do, I'll repaint all the other ships and repost their photos!

Anyone have suggestions for a different base colour, please post and I'll review it. :)

Heh I never thought of it quite like that, I just imagine what I want the ships to look like in my head and I build them. Often I revise my ship designs or parts on them several hundred times, even completed ones.

Anyway, current project right now is the combat version of Valkyrie. I think most will really be blown away by the overhaul of the ship. I will give a sneak peak of one of the early stages it was at a few days ago.

Can you spot any noticable differences (besides the hallowed out interior) between the ships in the screenshot? :D

You'll noticed that the ship has been cut in half (this was intended lol). When remolding the hull, I had to cut it in half to make it longer in order to maintain its previous design. It is slightly larger than the previous version. I tried to keep most of its characteristics that made Valkyrie stand out in the first place. I'm actually extremely impressed so far at my progress with it.

The biggest difference I see is combat version being made of heavy armour instead of light armour. Keep us updated :)

Sorry for no updates in awhile, been busy working. I'm finding some time to get back to work on my new ships. :)

Some more work in progress on the combat Valkyrie. It's a much larger ship than the older model. First picture is a perspective one. I took this picture before remodeling the entire back section.

I cropped the pictures ... so not to give away too much hehe

• Left side of the picture - The new remolded part of the ship.
• Right side of picture - That's the old back of the ship. As you can see the new ships body on the right is massive in comparison. So I had to cut the ship in half and reconnect it to give it a longer profile. There are some generators on top to add power to the engines so when it was cut in half it could reverse itself.

Second picture below is installing one of the back engine blocks. It was so massive, I had to build parts of the back of the ship in sections and add them to it after.

The interior is hallow, and I'm working on several interior parts now. There is a lot to do, but here's a sneak peak of the hanger just starting out.

Comments on the screenshots or even suggestions for the new ship are very much welcome!

Great designs! I love the Valkyrie, but it is a little strange that that exploration ship is better armed than the battlecruiser. ;)

So true, I planned on rewritting a couple of their backgrounds. To be fair though, the Tyr has two to three times more armour than valkyrie. It is also a lot smaller. :p

I'm pretty much done the exterior of the combat version, working on insides. I've been kinda busy, so it's been slow. But I'll try to post a couple new screenies. Maybe even a bridge shot to put a lot of "WOW" factor out there. It really is nice, kinda impressed with myself, happened by accident too. lol

Thanks! I really appreciate the compliments from people. It motivates me further to actually present these publicly. Per ship design I show, I improve each time. It's gotten to the point where I now have 3 styles I LOVE building with. I'll be redoing the main post sometime to reflect this. It'll be 3 different styles though.

Thanks for the comments!
