Because you have to wait patiently like a good little doggie.

That being said if they are ready then it's kind of pointless too hold off. Unless there's 2 days worth of prep to do?
Releaseing sooner woul let us test sooner.
However I can wait, I have enough to keep me occupied for 2 days and more.

I'd gladly have planets today if they were 100% ready. :pbjt:

They have mentioned they really never stop working, so these 2 extra days will let them do even more.

Hopefully 2 days more testing wont mean a broken game with planets rather than a working game without....

And I trust planets will be survival ready, not just creative. So there will be ore to mine, and a basic startup process so you CAN start out on a planet and build from there. Maybe some op[tons including a crashed ship one, with some basic refining gear still intact

Don't stand in front of the hype-train...

    Unstoppable force.

There was a "habitable planet" option in the Custom World menu in 1.094.

I assume it's still there and has perhaps been expanded upon.

im quite sure that they are ensuring its as major bug free as possible withing the timescale they have set themselves as a team and that is the day they choose to release it.

so ya know. learn some patience

planets might be done, hence the definite date and even effort to put a count down (rather than "we hope we can get it out on day x- oops we countered a severe problem and will take a bit longer"), but waiting until Thursday can allow them to put unessential finishing touches and perhaps finish up a few fixes so that it's all released together

Please also keep in mind: while planets may indeed be ready, the regular update might not be, yet. Every day for fixes is a good day!

Nah, I don't think it's that big. I'm estimating something in the range of 200 to 500MB.
About 30MB for the binaries (as always), and the rest is auxiliary mwm files, textures, and perhaps some new sounds too.

The code is probably done and ready to go. But due to the fact that this is such a monumental release, they may be putting the final touches on the PR work, the news release, as well as generating the media surrounding the release.

They may also need a couple of days to get over the company-wide hangover. I can't see them finishing this monster without cracking a few cases of vodka or drink of choice in vigorous celebration. If I was a dev and just delivered Marek planets, there better be a few cigars and lot more bottles of booze waiting for me at the finish line. Hell, there better be some hard drugs and hookers waiting too...

Naa, I think they are just adhering to their routine. Why mess with the workflow.
