    Whiplash Military Industries

    Howdy!
Note: This post is still under construction!

Whiplash141 here! This is a collection of all the things I've been working on. Included are creations i built from scratch as well as some retrofitted crafts originally by other authors :)
I am thinking about rebranding under the title Whiplash Military Industries to reflect my design focus; I'd love feedback on the name!

I placed most of the pictures in Imgur albums to save your scrolling hand!

    Emblem
I made this emblem for Battlefield 4 and then modified it to sport some glorious Maroon! I am really proud of how it turned out as I am not very artistically inclined :)

    Small Ships

WMI Widow-Class Medium Fighter Mk. II
    Status: Updating
    Workshop Link
The Widow was built with one goal in mind: to get the pilot home safely. She is essentially a flying cage of armour that surrounds the pilot. I've taken a record of 20 rockets in this jug and limped home to tell about it :D. The Widow is also equipped with a projector repair system to aid in repairing the damage that you will soon absorb!

    WMI Shortbow-Type Bomber Mk. IV
    Status: Updating
    Workshop Link
The Shortbow is an extensive modification to DarkExcalibur42's Longbow Bomber. To start with, I sliced her in half and removed the second cockpit. I redesigned the weapon systems to use an unguided torpedo. The Mark IV sports the Kinetic Armour Piercing Unguided Torpedo [KAPUT] weapon system that I developed. It uses spaceballs to vary the torpedo's mass to make it very light when you launch it and very heavy before it hits the target. This results in some crazy damage for such a small weapons platform.

    Large Ships

AAM Lynx-Class Fast Attack Craft Mk. I Mod 6
    Status: Released
    Workshop Link
This is a modification of Dwarf-Lord Pangolin's Lynx Fast Attack Craft.
The Lynx is a lightly armored fast attack craft (FAC) which serves as a force multiplier for a fleet. Small, fast, and nimble, the Lynx can deliver a massive blow to an enemy's capital ships without the hefty price tag of a frigate like the Caspian. She utilizes merge blocks and timers to make her more stable than the rotor-grinder based release system of old. The Lynx comes equipped with 3 kinetic torpedoes that can be reloaded by using the built in projector system (welders not included, sorry!). Each torpedo is capable of penetrating 5+ layers of heavy armour; a salvo to the nerve-center of any ship could prove to be devastating!

AAM Shinano-Class Corvette Mk. II Mod 1
    Status: Released
    Workshop Link
This is a modification of Dwarf-Lord Pangolins Shinano Corvette.
I restructured the ship's systems to accommodate a 12G Gravity shielding system. This allows the Shinano to extend the increasingly important utility of gravity shielding to vessels which would otherwise not have the capability to shield themselves. A few Shinano Corvettes can provide the level of gravity-based protection previously only afforded to large Cruisers and Destroyers. Massing just shy of 1.5 million kilograms, the Shinano is a light and compact fleet defense platform that doesn't have a hefty price tag. The unique thing about the Shinano's Shields is that the ship is fully walkable while the gravity shields are on. With an effective shielding range that reaches out to 250m, the Shinano is now capable of extending her shielding capability to other unshielded targets of opportunity like freighters in a convoy.

AAM Caspian-Class Frigate Mk. III Mod 3
    Status: Updating
    Workshop Link
This is my modification of Dwarf-Lord Pangolin’s Caspian-Class Frigate!
In this refit, I overhauled the Caspian's fire systems. She uses a projector based magazine that can hold 32 rounds in reserve (plus one in the chamber :D ). She can construct a round from scratch in 5 seconds in realistic-survival weld speed (x1)! She uses a timer system to provide the user with a simple 1 button fire system. The barrel is composed priarily of blast door blocks to reduce the chance of gun failure/damage. I also slimmed down her profile quite a bit decreasing the size of the wings and the fore-section. She is now equipped with an airtight hangar and has full oxygen systems.

    Experimental Designs

    WMI Railgun Turret - Ore
    Status: In Development
    Link: [Pending]
I built this turret to provide capital ships and stations with the option to bombard targets from long distances without needing to haul the entire ship around to aim. The Turret has 45 degree vertical and 360 degree horizontal traversal. She fires a 50 000 kg load of stone shot at max vanilla speed. The turret is fully conveyored, and the base is equipped with a cargo sorter to pull unwanted stone into the built in storage array on the gun. This is a super awesome way to dispose of your trash! :D

    More soon to come :D
    Thanks for stopping by!

@iN5URG3NT: Yes! Due to the weight adjustment I can actually enter now :woot:
This is another modified AAM ship by DLP :), the Cascade Destroyer!
I crammed a grav gun into the nose of her and modified her shape to make her sleeker
This time I've done the bloody resource math so she can work in survival, but I need to check the weld times in survival. If only the Caspian Frigate didn't weigh 6.8 million kg :woot: That's my favorite ship that boasts a projector based PMW

    -------------UPDATED KITE RELEASE-----------
    WMI Kite-Class Fighter Mk. II

    Status: Updating
    Workshop Link
The Kite was heavily inspired by Dwarf-Lord Pangolin's AAM Kite (hence the name) :D She is compact and nimble and can land in a 2x3 large ship opening. The Kite is fully conveyored and has redundant systems to prevent the ship from being disabled by a lucky rocket.

    ----------UPDATED ARROWHEAD----------
    WMI Arrowhead Fighter Mk. I

    Status: In Development
    Link: [Pending]
The Arrowhead is a small fighter that I created in 45 minutes to fill the role of a strafing craft. I built her with aesthetics prioritized but she turned out pretty decent functionally. I also made a bomber variant of this craft using 5 downwards facing reloadable rocket launchers.

Edit: Finally got an album up :)

I've been tweaking all WMI large ships to use a 3 connector docking system like the one @Dwarf-Lord Pangolin uses.

Pictured here are 2 color variants of the Caspian. I can not decide which I like better :p Note the bulge near the port and starboard sides of the mid section. These are the new docking ports

I like both, but if you ask me to choose, the right one for the caspian.
Makes it look like the red stripe is fluently (?) going through the ship... and it spares the turrets at the "wings".
Btw the Caspian was the first workshop item i ever used, and i didnt got disappointed by it, a rly great ship!

@Dante McFox: Thanks for the feedback :) I'm leaning more towards the one you favor as well. I too loved the Caspian and it is super fun to revamp this old beauty!

Howdy! I'm back with some more weaponry! Update 1.91 fixed the issue with components not inheriting inertia so my two stage payload missiles are working again!

Now for some insight on payload:
This version is loaded with 23 kg of stone (compatible with survival x1) in its cargo container and connector. When it is in close proximity to an enemy vessel, the warheads on front are detonated to disperse the contents of the containers causing considerable damage to anything in its path!

    Hope y'all enjoy!

Can you post this torpedo to the workshop? I've been reverse engineering it from the pictures but somehow I can't get it as compact?

@tankmayvin: I should release it alongside the Shortbow in the coming weeks, but I'll try and get some cross sections up for u :)

Also, here is a random update on what I've been working on: docking system improvements for all WMI vessels!

I've made some new progress on the Kite Space Superiority Fighter!
I added more rocket launchers (now has 4 total) and tightened the gatling spread :) I wanted a platform to show off my rocket sequencing script and 2 rocket launchers wasn't gonna cut it :p

Thank you! I quite like having the gatlings closer to the centerline. I was actually tinkering with nose configurations on the Shortbow when I stumbled on the current design displayed on the Kite :)

She's looking good. The underside is very nice. That's a good use of a blast door at the front... I won't lie to you, I'm going to steal that. :D

Yes, I am still alive! Took a break for a while when everything broke 2 updates in a row, but I am back with something exciting:
The first ever independently produced WMI vessel!
You heard it right! I made a ship (worthy of keeping) all by myself :D I haven't come up with a name for her yet (suggestions welcome) but she is a planetary lander capable of taking off in over 1.5G of natural gravity! Wrote a program for her gravity elevator so that the ship gravity would negate the natural gravity when in landing distance... ok gross technical stuff. tl;dr - script makes grav elevator work in natural grav.

I admittedly took some inspiration from @iN5URG3NT's style with the tail because it looks bloody cool! Spaceballs used for landing as they don't spontaneously explode when pressure is applied :p The ship can carry 3 crew and 6 passengers in cryo tubes, with full oxygen and medical facilities included. She also boasts a jump drive as she is designed for long range planetary scouting. :)

Howdy! I'm back with some cool stuff :)

I made a Gravity Drive (or Gravity Accelerator Cannon) calculator to aid in designing more efficient designs! I hope this helps y'all out a bit (if this is new info to you :) )

Also, I was inspired by a suggestion from @mecra to design a SABOT torpedo! Well... kinda... Instead of the projectile being surrounded by the delivery vehicle, I surrounded the delivery vehicle with 4 kinetic projectiles >:D The torpedo fits in a 3 x 3 x 8 large block space and is shield piercing. However; I have yet to test the damage potential since last patch made all collisions super bouncy (and I'm tired).
    [See post below for album]

And here is a random picture dump!

    Ok... sleep can wait...
I ran some tests on the Quad Sabot round and the results are... interesting.
Edit: The album does not seem to be updating, try clicking the little gear icon in the top right and click "view album on imgur"

I also made some modifications to the old AAM Severn-class :)

As you can see I have modified me color scheme a bit :p. I have applied this change to most WMI vessels:

The quad sabot is brilliant. It's much better than one huge round; the normal ones do enough damage already, this quadruples that and is more likely to hit the target if it's moving. I love it.

I'm going to have to try the weapons sequence script on the Copperhead; it would really benefit from it. When you publish your atmospheric Shortbow, I'm going to set a bunch of my vehicles up on the ground and shoot them up with it while pretending I'm playing A-10 Attack.
And I want to know more about that monster rover you have in that pic above! Is that a mobile base?

Thank you :) @mecra came to me one day asking if I had ever made a sabot. I had to make something cool so I didn't have to say no :p I'm hoping I can load 2 of these puppies in a Longsword (heck I could probably fit 4 if I wanted to be silly).

It really does :D I've also gone back and sequenced the Osprey for giggles :) The continuous fire serves you so much better in a dogfight! I currently have space dedicated for my script on all fighters with more than 2 rocket tubes

I do this way too frequently; I am guilty of beating up on the poor Grendel quite a bit :p She is robust as all hell though, very well built.

That is a joint project between @noobymcnoobcake and myself (one of many)! That is the Mammoth Mobile Support Vehicle (MSV). She is fitted with gravity shields (because why not? lol) and can support a sizable crew. Packed with all necessary components for base building :)

Also that reminded me of another joint build of ours, I never posted pics of the Ark Royal Mobile Carrier Vehicle so here is a teaser (code for: "I have no more screenshots"):
The Ark Royal has a short runway for VTOL and STOVL craft. She has on-board manufacturing facilities to permit her to keep her fighters supplied even if only raw materials are available. The frontal crew cabin is capable of operating independently of the rear half. This means that if, by some crazy catastrophe, the vehicle gets split in two, the crew portion will still have oxygen facilities and cargo capacity. She is also surprisingly speedy for her size!

Also, here is a view of the Shortbow's rear wheel housing. I had to redesign the rear nacelle around the wheel, it was a nightmare!

Heck, might as well show off the progress on the Longsword:
Flight bridge and area beneath it has been completely restructured to be more open. Wings have been shortened as the excess length served no real purpose; I'd rather spend that mass on more armour. She is kitted with 12 oxygen tanks and 4 oxygen generators for long term operations. I also added in like 4 large reactors to offset the increased thruster power draw. I crammed in 16 jump drives (wowza!) so that I can jump this 23 million kg behemoth over 1000 km! 2 large thrusters have been added to port, starboard, ventral, and dorsal surfaces to increase her agility. I still need many more gyroscopes though as she turns like she is in molasses but there is plenty of space to add more :)

Edit: So many emojis... I killed a few

With a little help from @iN5URG3NT, I finally got around to building my own torpedo vessel last night! She sports the same main cannon as my Caspian mods but is mounted on this 2 million kg frame :) (the Caspian mod 4 masses 7.2 million kg unloaded)
    Features:
    • Gravity accelerated torpedo cannon
    • Jump drive
    • Airlock script :)
    • Heavily armoured combat bridge
    • Awesome looking flight bridge (took some inspiration from @Dwarf-Lord Pangolin's Appalachian)
    • Very speedy: 16.62 m/s^2 unloaded
    • 6 cryopods
    • 1 Medical station

Beautiful! Great work! Cant wait for a blueprint from this one... a question occures tho:

Wont the thrusters damage the tail? i can see least 1 Ramp and some angled Armor Blocks which should be in range for thruster damage? Noticed the same on some of iN5URG3NT's builds, im usually going to have 6 Blocks of free space behind my thrusters, but now i think that could be too much...

Thank you and to answer your question: Nope! It does not damage those blocks as I have been joyriding in her for hours with no burning (thruster damage is on of course :p). Last time I tested them, large thrusters had a damage range of 5 blocks and it seems to be holding true. Ramps allow you move blocks closer to the flame without receiving damage as the flame damage is dealt along the centerline of the thrust nozzle. :) Hope this cleared things up!

Sick ship. I like how you staggered and distributed her rear thrusters so it's not super easy to insta-gib her mobility.

A question on the longsword, I have a ship of similar tonnage (25kt) and was only able to fit 3 Jumpdrives even with its compact build, so how the hell did you cramp 16 in there ?!

    My ship in question:

On the longsword and the new ship, looking dope, love that back !
