Simply.... wow! I'm just stunned now.
I'm really amazed to see what this community is able to create. So much high quality pictures, many different themes and diverse approaches at this art contest. Makes me proud to be part of this growing community.

After watching every image I've decided to vote number 50

The final vote goes to... screen 50.

 

After careful deliberation, I have picked my favourite and my runners up.
In at #5 I have chosen this shot, it's pretty.

At #4 I have this shot, I think it's a very nice shot and keeps away from overly using post-edited effects.

At #3, this screenshot combines the designs of the capital ships we all aspire to build with some pretty groovy post-processing the create an image that I'd happily use as my desktop background.

At #2, like the last, this image combines a nice realistic ship with some pretty effects to create a good screenshot.

Up in first place however, this screenshot really captures the essence of space engineers, a simple yet aesthetically pleasing small ship any one of us could create that is effortlessly complimented by a minimalistic and contrasting backdrop. This is my first choice because if I were to describe space engineers in one image, it would be this one.

 

Tough one, tough one...

In the end, I decided that I will have a lot of new desktop backgrounds.

I pick 50.

 

Ewww, I cant pick. I did not check them all, as I clicked and randomly opened about 15 of them and Im stucked with 3 (entry 8, 10 and 50).

Im sure if I check them all, I would find at least 15 images, and I could not decide which one to vote for

Ps.: I would really want #50 as my wallpaper, but its not in 16:9 AR

 

I have to agree just looked at the first one and thought it was a completely different game.

P.S. Good job for the guys who made these.

 

All these pics (especially the last one) make me wish for a world where SE can be played by 300 People on the same procedurally generated map. Completely lag free.


Oh Space Engineers, why are you so awesome and unfinished?

 

I loved #3, the image is dramatic and atmospheric. Loved the composition. I'd say that's the kind of game I'd like SE to look like.

 

I've never played this game but 63, 45 and 50 all look pretty groovy. 63 reminds me of Coruscant, 45 is very into-the-unknown-y, and 50 is just kind of epic.

 

The final picture is indeed marvellous, it inspires me to see a world within the game that is living and vibrant, and filled with players and interesting events. I would love to live in that world. My vote goes to #63, may that world see the light of day once upon a time!

 

I'm glad I went through all of them, because 63 takes the cake.

38 was my pick until I got to that one.

 

Just out of curiosity, is there any way to prevent someone from making dummy accounts just to vote themselves up? I hope that no one will do that, but these are some pretty expensive prizes.

 

Some of these are amazing but too many mods IMO - they don't look real. Should have a category of vanilla screenies only I reckon. Don't get me wrong, I love mods but they make it too easy to get a good-looking pic.

It's about making a good-looking pic. Not about making an amazing build.
At least half the ships in the screenshots probably don't work, even with mods.

 

I picked 1 it just looked so good and very pretty.

 

seems suspicious that prolly the least impressive is winning by a large amount in such a short time.

Ingram: Why do you think so? I downloaded that one, to set it as my wallpaper along with #50 and #8.
Its really nice image, and I understand why somebody would vote for it.


Ok, so it came to #42 and #50.... I just can't decide for which one to vote. I want to vote for both.

 

So many to choose from. I'm conflicted between images with little to no touch up and ones that look like it is an entirely different game.

 

It's a nice image, but not particularly impressive. The focus is on the mountains with blurring on the skybox. as a result it makes the skybox look low-res and poor quality. Similarly, the lowest edge of the shot has been blurred as if out of focus, however that part of the shot is neither closer nor farther than the rover and engineer (whose legs are also blurred. But not the rest of him).

More concerning is #38 with 7 votes and it's genuinely terrible. It's half a ship. Not even a well-built, attractive ship. Vanilla skybox. Turret lasers visible. No photoshopping to improve it.

As for me, im voting for any of the first 4. prolly the 1st one.

My fabourites are (no particular order)

#11 lovely action shot, several people running, explosions, ships flying and firing
#41 real Chris Foss feel of a classic sci fi book cover
#45 love the exploration feel of this - looked like the dr who episode on the diamond planet
#50 another Chris Foss feeling screenie
#52 realistic feeling of a moon base from this - liked the simple practicality of the scene

Overall though, i'm going with 11 due to the action
