Category 3 - HQ Screenshots

After we moved to our new office, we got a new hobby – making high-res screenshots, printing them and putting them as pictures on our office walls. Now, we need more pictures but there’s a problem: someone has to create them in a resolution that’s at least 2800 x 2100.

• Each player can submit up to five screenshots
• The manipulation and enhancement of photos through editing software like Photoshop and gimp are allowed, as long as the source of the picture was an in-game screenshot.
• Members will vote for the best image. The one that will have the most votes will be the winner.
• The winner gets one NVIDIA GTX 770

How to capture a screenshot:
We have set up Space Engineers so that it's now possible to capture high-res screenshots in the game. Follow this guide:

1. Locate SpaceEngineers.cfg in your user Application Data folder.
2. Modify ScreenshotSizeMultiplier. Result screenshot size is calculated as resolution in the game multiplied by ScreenshotSizeMultiplier.
3. Make a screenshot in the game (F4 by default).
4. If the screenshot is too big, it is cut into several fragments. These are to be combined in any image editing application.

How to submit your screenshot:

1. After taking your screenshot, upload it to an image sharer (eg. imgur)
2. Then send the link with your screenshot to our email at press@keenswh.com with the title “Hi-res Screenshot contest”<cite class="_Rm"></cite>

Submissions for this contest will start on Oct 15 and will end on Nov 30, 2014.
After the end of the submission period, we will post all the entries on the corresponding forum thread (will be announced later) where other players can read the stories and vote for the best ones through a poll.
The winners will be announced on Dec 15, 2014 through our website, forum and Facebook page.

Are we aloud to photoedit? also are mods aloud?

 

Yes, you are allowed; it is mentioned above "The manipulation and enhancement of photos through editing software like Photoshop and gimp are allowed, as long as s the source of the picture was an in-game screenshot". Also, you can use mods.

 

One more, can you give a more specific file path for modding the screenshot?

(i am having a hard time locating it)

please elaborate on this? I can not find it in the file? ar we to add this somewhere our selves or will it be added tomorrow in the update?

 

The HQ Screenshot is a reward in and of itself

 

If the instruction says that you have to change this code:

Then thats the code to change!

If the value is 1 then screenshot will be same as your screen resolution, and if 2 it will be double the size.

I don't see "ScreenshotSizeMultiplier" in the SpaceEngineers.cfg file? Are we supposed to add this line?

 

Would we be allowed to cut out build spaceships from SpaceEngineers, and give them new backgrounds and such? How true does it have to stay to the game?

 

I read that the contest is going to come to the forums? should I still try to post them on reddit?

 

Voting on Reddit is stupid. My votes don't seem to work, so I made a post on the one i liked the most since that seems to be all I can do.

 

The rules for submissions and voting were changed a month ago because people were abusing reddit features.
The ones posted on Reddit became invalid.

The votes on reddit should become invalid not the entries.
If they were entered into the competition under the rules at that time then they should be included in the competition.

I feel kinda bad because well Dan has more of a reason to be irritated by this than I do. That said I also put quite a lot of time into this, followed the rules, entered the contest and because of the total lack of organization, lack of information, and transgressions made by other people our entries become invalid??? Seriously messed up.
