Checking for mod updates. Please help.

    When I try to continue my game or join a server it displays a message saying checking for mod updates. I don't know what to do.

    That means exactly what it says that it is checking for an update to mods you have loaded. If they are large mods it could take some time. If you have let it sit for more than 10 minutes and still get that it is checking then it may be an issue with one of your mods and the only way to see which is the issue is to take them out one at a time.
