I am attempting to setup multiple dedicated servers on the same server using sub-domains. I don't want to have to specify the ports in the url.

    For example:
    world1.mydomain.com instead of mydomain.com:27016
    world2.mydomain.com instead of mydomain.com:26017

After some research it appears I need to setup SRV records on my domain registrar. I have attempted to do this but have not had success yet.

I came across this post with a good tuturial of SRV records and it states that:
    • SRV uses an application/service specific handle, shown as underscore(_) service in the table above the previous. Minecrafts service specific handle is "_minecraft".

Does Space Engineers currently support SRV?
If so, what is the application/service specific handle? Maybe "SpaceEngineersDedicated"?

Also, any additional advice about how to do this would be appreciated, if I'm doing this completely wrong.

I thought I would answer my own question in the event someone else is curious about this. I was encouraged to contact Keen Software directly to inquire about SRV records and just received a response.

According to Keen, they do not currently support SRV records but are considering it for later in the future.

If anyone else also wants Keen to add SRV support, leave a +1 comment on this thread and maybe it will help raise it on their list of feature priorities.

I'd love to see this added to the client as well. If, for whatever reason, I need to change the port my server runs on, being able to do it and have players connect seamlessly without needing any kind of action on their part would be brilliant.

Yes, please. This should already be standard. I thought we were living in the 21st century not the 12th :)

Yes! We need support for this. I dont get why things like this is not supported. Just like how you cant run a server on a linux server (Centos7 for me). Now i have to rent a windows VPS instead of using my own servers at my place! :?

    Bump +1

It is not a matter of what Space Engineers supports. The game is limited by it's dependency on the Steam networking layer. Steam stores server details only as a numeric address, they will still not commit to if or when they will support ipv6, and it is very unlikely they will add this level of dns support at the necessary layer any time soon. You need to use your own workaround at the network layer to redirect connection attempts to the right port.
