Welcome to Fox Engineering, Here I will exhibit my creations within the game of Space Engineers to offer inspiration to other engineers and gain feedback to further inprove my works. While my grammar at time can loose its sparkle I will try to keep my threads organized for you to have as convenient browse among my creations as possible. I will post one new reply for every creation but summarize it in the first replies. I will allready here infrom you that i can not provide you with a steam workshop link as many of my creations are in the same save, where I both keep upcoming projects aswell as private projects.

    Background
When i first started to play SE I was amazed by the game and its features and i wanted to get into making stuff straight away tho my ambitions were to high as I tried to make huge ships but were lacking enough inspiration to make anything esthetically pleasing, I was quite dissapointed on anything I created so I started to make some small ship designs there aswell however i were struggling with getting those designs to my satisfaction. What I needed was inspirations, so throw in words such as "spaceship", "fighter", "spaceship concepts" etc into google and browsed through some images there. I also checked out other peoples creations on the steam workshop (but never downloaded any because i wanted to make my own ones and not copy others), I also viewed some youtube videos and finally came over to this forum.
Many of my creations that i will publish here will share the same design features on some parts of the ships as i been experimenting with features i liked and trying to combine and mix and match. Some of the creations I will upload here I am not specifically satisfied with its design where their performance may be more satisfactory but as I learned from my best friend that the ships I may not like others may do so I will be uploading even those I am not pleased with. After this realization I made a small ship fighter based on a design that i originally didn't like but combined it with a designed that i liked and got excellent performance out of it and to my surprise it turned out satisfy me esthetically as-well. I will publish it later on but as I put down some time in the presentation Its going to be released later on.

    Design Ambitions
In all my original (no replicas/recreations) designs I always follow my own ruleset of what each ship or structure must have based on its purpose. I generally try to strip all my creations off blocks that does not contribute to its design and at the same time just add unnecessary mass. I try to protect essetional components from taking damage both on civilian as-well as military concepts where those concepts need that protection. I try to maximize performance while not sacrificing to much of its design to keep my creations both good looking at the same time as efficent

    DESCRIPTION
The Antaris is a cruiser class ship. Its paintjob and design is inspierd by the EVE Online's upcoming expancsion ship for the Sisters of EVE Stratios. Where I initially attempted to make a more of a replica due to that i liked its design features tho challenging as i noticed it became i turned to make my own shipdesign inspired by the ship but with attempt of making it look like this was actually a ship you could be seeing in the game EVE online Aswell. Where the actual circle was not intended to have no purpose I realized that it serves as good anti-ramming protection where it almost works like a shield protecting Antaris most vital parts such as the Main Reactorhall and the bridge. It was also made so it have 1 layers of armor and 1 layer of interior wall as protection with only 4 areas less shield but hold no major importance if breached. The Missile Turrets is intended to be used as a more main weapon against large ships they only are placed on each side of the ship while Gun Turrets are placed in positions making it impossible for fighters to hide in any blind spots of the ship

Nice work! I especially like the blending between ramp and slope shaping you achieved. The cutaway is glorious as well. I love round things in games that limit us to squares. That ship is hatee hatee hatee ho!

The Antaris looks good and functional. Probably one of the best looking ships of that size I have seen so far.

Good work on your logo as well (raised lettering gave you 45 degree slopes to work with, I might have to try that in future).

I have attempted one large rotating space station (not a ring though, my next attempt would be a smaller hexagonal one). Can be seen at ...

Had a few lagging issues when spinning it, the centrifugal "fake" gravity did not seem to work right at this stage.

Thank you for your feedback on the ship, tho the feedback on my logo was a plesant unexpected suprise. I am glad it may inspire you perhaps for the future. I myself was inspired to make my logo after i myself seen a other forum user doing his forum signature through writing out the logo with large blocks in SE. https://forums.keenswh.com/post/spirittech-research-and-design-6648585

Lovely set up - well presented Space Fox. It's always nice when somebody sets a new standard in presentation.

I hear you're thinking of playing with centripetal, centrifugal forces - good luck with that. (Are you sure that centripetal force exists in the game?). I'll wait for bearings to arrive on the scene before attempting spinning objects, otherwise the weight would have to be balanced around the circumference of a 'floating' axis.

    Thank you for the feedback

centripetal force does exists but friction in the same aspect dont to my knowledge but the space odyssey space station doesnt use centripetal force but something in common mouth is refered as "centrifugal force" Which is actually not a real force. and the only friction you can create in the game is through the gravity generators so it wont work like it does in reality

    BACKGROUND
All my previous attempts on making a small fighter ship had failed designwise and non of them turned out to look pleasing at all. So i said to myself that i needed to think outside the box, where the majority of my attempts i logically had placed my engines behind the cockpit which made sense as it would otherwise block the visibility. I started to look through my memory of spaceships i seen that had its engines infront of the cockpit and 2 ships came into my mind, Starwars Pod racers and the Naboo fighter from phantom menace. Once i was finnished with the design its controls were heavy and its accelleration wasnt too good and i were not even content with its final look neither so i felt it was a complete failure. I did however fly around with it quite alot and started to do some acrobatics as it was the only ship i created that i actually finnished and not stoped halfway because i thought it looked ugly, also i thought that as i dont like this one i can use it to practice my piloting skills with it so i flew through hollow asterioids and made turns around my space station structures. i did this untill i completley smashed it up. The day after I was missing it, i realized i actually come to like it, even tho it was not the best i made so i remade it out of memory and also attached landing gears. One of the featueres i do like about this ship is the front top side that you can see looking out from the cockpit, it reminds me of a muscle car and for some reason i do think the front do aswell.

    BACKGROUND
I been struggling with designing a good front on the fighters i been trying to make I especially when keeping a ships symmetry when laying the large engines horizontal. Most of my more estetical pleasing designs have the large engines upright. However this fighter is a experimental design of mine where i both had horizontal large engines and tried to rains the nose-hight to 1 block above where the cockpit window starts. The first version of the Mjolnir also had 2 large engines as retro thrusters, this was part of my design challenge i set aswell along with the other 2 listed above but due to taking up to much space taken away from reactors I had to reduce it to using small engines. It was named the Mjolnir due to its top-down profile as it reminds little of Thors hammer but aswell as it looks like a hard hitting hamer of a deity this ship have also the firepower to make up for its name. it have 6 guns and 2 pods and this gives a total of 8 hardpoints which you could exchange its armements arond for what the task requires. When it comes to the cockpit it prefere when you have more visibillity but i guess one benefit this nose and cockpit offers is more armor. Its preformance is also not to shabby.

I am pleased there is so many that likes it. I am intending to do a other large ship but im curently searching my mind for inspiration, where the Antaris was perhaps the 10th large ship I made proably I will have to make 10 other large ships and fail with before i can produce something worthy of your eyes. Meanwhile I will be realeasing more of my small ship collections. I will be releaseing 2 fighters this evening.

    BACKGROUND
The Cleaver is using a 2 large horozontal engines with supporting small ones around them. This configuration of main propulsion thrusters. I had made engines positioning vertically in some of my other projects and they looked really great, the symetry of the vertical engines with the cockpitplacement and the nose worked well so I wanted to make the same work with horizontal. This is experimental fighter where its also using the armored cockpit+nose variance. The ship gets a decent side and top profile while im not 100% confident that obstructing visibility of the pilot is a good idea i needed to test it with the Cleaver. The cleaver have a good preformance and a good firepower.

    BACKGROUND
The Cleaver MkII is a modified version of the MkI, the only differance is the nose that have been lowers to provide the full visibility for the pilots but loosing the extra armor the MkI have around the cockpit. This also alters the ships side profile symmetry where the nose is not aligned with the main large thrusters and this is a feature i did not want to achieve, Its performance is the same as the MkI it just have a lesser mass.

nice work matey. much better than my early work.. at the moment my only small vessel is a flying bus with 4 giant multi core engines and over a dozen rockets and even more gattling guns.. not to mention the 3 layer thick armor plating... flies like a brick.

If i was back in australia I could work on the dozen designs I have running around in my head.. but for now I can only put them on paper :/

    BACKGROUND
The badger is a deep core mining ship that is designs to mine a whole in the same diameter so the whole ship can fit in. this ship have also an intended design feature to be smaller in the rear than in the front allowing it to actually turn while its making its tunnels. originally it was designed without landing gear and only have been tested without landing gear therefor I recommend it to be used without.

well i cant see most of how yours looks in your picture if you are refering to the Wrecker? https://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/472047511490394704/A217C52459E7084CEB50166A387F0FA478E46615/
so its hard for me to tell. But you have a similar drill configuration. Except in my testing of the ship mine wa swithout a center drill which made the drillingprocess slow so i decided to fit the center one.

Meant no offence was just having a comical moment how great minds think alike.

Edit, finally got to my PC and here is the new and hopefully improved Wrecker, its a bit long however it can be shortened with little effort. All the thrusters are situated near the cockpit.[IMG]
