So my friends and i have tried to get a dedicated server up for 4 days. I have tried every known network configuration on all our networks. Our ISP's don't allow us to have Public IP addresses unless we have a business account, which was the only thing that stopped us. I discovered a way to almost reduce lag on a peer to peer connection to be almost non existent like running a single player game. (Note: I am running on a 4G connection and i had 5 people playing with no lag 3 of which are overseas while using a Voice chat program)

In order to speed up the game and reduce lag nearly completely 3 things must be done, also please be advised that a router with QOS(Quality Of Service) is required for this to work correctly and a PC with 8 GB of RAM and good render abilities is required(a gaming PC preferable).

The first which is the most easiest is to turn on V sync. Space Engineers has issues with loading large FPS on a multilayer connection which will result in studdering. Locking the game to 60 FPS will stop the sudden lag you get when moving too fast or when doing rapid placing of blocks. This is a must for the person hosting the server otherwise lag times occur!!! To enable Vsync you must go to options>Graphics>Vsync (check-box)

The second is to enable the QOS on your router, this process changes for every router and different brands but the ports that need to be controlled are the same! The ports you will be looking for are steams P2P Voice and the game client ports. If your internet allows you to access steam on the client you have the ability to QOS the ports and they do not need to be opened. As Space Engineers Peer to Peer uses different ports in the steam client from time to time setting QOS on a range instead of specific ports is the best idea, Please be sure to allow both TCP and UDP on the QOS for compatibility with other games that use steam(this will also improve multiplayer connection speeds and ping lag).

The Ports Range For the QOS are

    Steam:
    27000 ~ 28000

    Steam P2P:
    3478 ~ 4380

Once these ports are in the QOS please set them to the highest priority setting available on your router then you are nearly ready to go!

Lastly the Hoster needs to direct network traffic to a IP on their router, some high end routers and managed switches allow to have a LAN IP have network traffic priority. Once this is setup the Game can run with almost no lag. Note: if a high end router is not available or a managed switch disconnecting all devices except for the PC that will playing Space Engineers and Hosting will create the same effect as a Network Traffic Priority.

I hope this helped you guys who are unable to create a dedicated server, and have issues with Peer to Peer due to lag times.
