I think that it would be good to add more castle sieging wepons that you and the barbarions could use in to the game, i think this would be a good idea as it adds more variety to the game as the barbarions could attack in different ways or attack in multiple ways at once. Also i think (with these below items) the barbarions could start with simple inefficient versions and over time they get more complex. i think this will be good as it would make the difficulty scale so its not hard at the start and very easy when you built your castle. some ideas i have are:

    - Battering ram: the battering ram could be one of the sieging wepons the barbarions use, say you had a gate so that no one could get inside, well maybe the barbarions could use a log to make a battering ram to "batter" down the gate/door (I think that this would be a good as they can range from simple to complex and maybe the barbarions could start with a simple log and over time build better ones like this: https://historywarsweapons.com/wp-content/uploads/image/BatteringRam1.jpg)

    - Siege Tower: maybe the barbarins didnt succeed the first time by using a ram and going through the main entrence, so maybe then they could build a siege tower so that they could siege your castle walls.(I think that this would be a good addition to the game and also it would be cool to see how users conter siege towers, maybe build there castle at the top of a big hill.)

    - Ballista: maybe at first barbarions only used a ram as it would be near the start of the game but over time maybe the barbarions could get smarter and use better sieging wepons. and maybe over time they could learn how to craft a ballista to siege your castle. (also i think that it would be cool if like real ballistas, they have to re-aim them after every shot as the recoil moves them back and makes so its off-aim as it can move far back depending on the power of the ballista)

here is a link where it breifly describes what these are: https://www.lordsandladies.org/siege-weapons.htm

Also, if your idea is "maybe, it depends." then i think you should reply and state what it depends on. i think it would be a good idea if you reply is you think it isnt a good idea too.

    Thanks

(the AI should also be able to use these)

I'm fairly certain that the siege weapons shown in the initial announcement were hand-built. That being said, it is likely that you could make the designs you suggested, regardless of what they showed in the footage. With a good eye for engineering, that is. ;)

Aside from all of that, ballistae were used mainly agaist other siege engines rather than the hard stone of castle walls, to which it could do little damage. Nontheless, it would prove very useful.

yes, i think they were. good point. but for a battering ram atleast to be able to pick up and use it as such would be cool if it was implemented. you probably wouldnt be able to use it as it take multiple people to use but i think it would be good if the barbarions could pick it up and ram the main gate.

Also i think for a balista you wouldnt be able to just build one as the wood peices are more complex, you would need to craft them. for the most part you can. but some of the wood needs to be bendable and not as thick. you see the limbs? (the bending part of woods that the rope is attached)(there is one on each side) for example these: [IMG]
Although you could make a roman one which looks like this: [IMG]
and as for the siege tower you could build that your self. yet again, good point. but (this point satands for all three of my ideas) im saying that the barbarions should use these aswell and they arn't smart, there are just AI so they would have to be programmed to be able to use/create theses

So yeah, anyway, you could probably make these your self, but in the interview there was talk about enimies/barbarions attacking your castle so what im surgesting is when they are implemented they shoud be able to use these seiging wepons.

Ah, I see your point now. I guess what I was focusing on was this statement, particularly the underlined bits:

Perhaps I misinterpreted that as you saying that there should be more siege engines in the game, implying that there were only presets. Besides, we don't even know if these 'barbarians' can use siege weapons. The red-clad person in the video was clearly a player.

I built my own ballista. In doing so, I did a lot of research on ballistae and other siege weapons. Ballistae can be used to fire arrows for use against infantry and wooden structures. Flaming arrows were used against wooden structures. Ballistae can be modified to fire stone projectiles and other items that a catapult or similar weapon would normally fire. Ballistae have NO recoil- I fired arrows from the one I built. The only thing that needs to be reset is the "bow string".

Ballistae were highly accurate weapons with decent range. They can even be modified to become a repeating weapon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballista

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polybolos

Mine is more like a scorpio style ballista- a portable anti-infantry weapon that fired smaller arrows.

That sound like fun, I once build a trebuchet with some friends (a decent size one) that fired waterballons (or handsized rocks). It wasn't even so hard to make, just 2 wooden tripods (3m high) and the arm attached to an axle. The axel could freely move on top of the 2 tripods. The weight consisted of a really big bag filled with bricks, boy did it shoot far.

Thank you for correcting me, i read the article on a site about them uncorrectly, sorry about that.

    And
yeah that is true, i belief in the interview they said that they will be barbarions but yeah, they might not be able to use them. Although i think it will be a good idea if they could becuase then it would add difficulty to the game and then you will have to rebuild a bit after an amazing battle.

Yea possibility of building more different kinds of stuff is good. I thought maybe we should get also possibility of building movable ladders so it would be cheapest way of climbing walls, yet most dangerous.

I would hope they would do something similar to the space engineers workshop creations for the barbarians to keep things nice and diverse and with very little time needed on the dev teams side.
