Sorry if this thread is already running somewhere, I couldn't find much about it. Last time I played space engineers about a month ago, I endeavored to build a multi-crew armored vehicle. I made one original and then revised that to come up with a rather functional wheeled vehicle with seating for two and a 2nd grid attached on a rotor that housed an RC block, gyro, some cameras, a reactor and 3 rocket launchers. I was so stoked and went out into the Multiplayer world to test my new creation with a co-pilot at the gun. Unfortunately, when one person is driving, the other person is unable to control the turret (Vessel is being controlled by some one else) ... I tried a few different things including changing from 2 cockpits to a cockpit and a passenger seat (then using the suit radio to manipulate the turret RC block). I understand that this probably has something to do with how the game deals with vessels when they're docked ... Is there any ideas of what i might have been doing wrong? Has anyone ran into this? The vehicle worked ideally, if you're okay with driving then switching to the RC block to fire then switching back to steer.

I want to make a vehicle that has a grid attached (2nd grid has its own power, RC block, gyro - etc.) which could be controlled by a pilot and weapon systems controlled by co-pilot? maybe there could be a drop down menu on RC Blocks, flight chairs, pilot seats that can let the owner designate if it's not only the main cockpit but also options for more assignments .... i dont know.

I've ran into the same Problem a while ago. When the "Turret" is attached via Rotors, a second Person can't take control of it while the first one is piloting the "Chassis", this is intendet it seems!
However, I think it can work when you attach the Turret via Connectors, haven't tested that though. Mind putting your Results on here if you find out?

You can try using toolbar to control turret (yes, that's many times worse...)
I'm afraid connectors won't work as I've seen "Another person is using this ship" when I docked small ships through connectors. I'm unsure about landing gears.

Have you checked that none of the Flight Seats have the "Main Cockpit" option checked? Having that checked on any one will lock out all the others.

It wont work, any ship can have only one primary pilot regardless of the number of attached grids or the connection types. If they attempt to Control a Remote on a separate grid they get the 'another person is using this ship' message. The closest I can do is having the tool bar for a remote populated with rotor/shoot for manual control.
