    History:
    Short:
The Nebulanic Union, better now as simply The Union, began as three of the colonies founded during the second wave of colonization, the colony of the Carthage system, settled in 2086, Corn Snake Nebula Mining Group, first station built in 2088, and Mustang Nebula Station Group, first station built in 2091. The three colonies would soon become a single , forming the Nebulanic Union in 2099, a name that came from the two nebulae that the new faction held, the Mustang and Corn Snake Nebulae. The faction soon became known for its starship's highly organic appearance and its A.I. research, leading some to believe that the ships were living.

In the year 2140, the faction face off against a powerful pirate group who had taken many of Union's older warships as their own. The battles that came proved the Union could both defend themselves and were shown to be kind victors, giving civilians within the pirate stations a chance to join them.

In 2154, Union scientist Dr. Gregory Hunter and his A.I. assistant, Sigma, had begun to work on a method to make A.I. closer to humans, something Union scientists had been trying to do for almost twenty years. In 2157, Dr. Hunter finished a new A.I. creation system and began to write a new A.I. code to go with it. Using Sigma as a test bed, Dr. Hunter was amazed by the results. In his own words, "Sigma is now as close to human as any A.I. has ever been. I can only identify her as a Human A.I." But it was later test that shocked him even more.

When he examined Sigma's code, Dr. Hunter found that 1/5 of the code was "anomalous code," and that when the code was copied, it came up as an error. After creating two completely different A.I. from the new "structural" code, Alpha and Marta, and finding that 1/3 of thier code was anomalous, he could only explain a "soul" as being responsible for the human nature of the new A.I.

The creation of the Human A.I. only strengthened the citizen's idea that A.I. were almost human and living. The older A.I. were upgraded to Human A.I. quickly, leading to the Nebulanic Union of today.

    Probably not to scale.
    Notable Ships of the Line

    Historical Notes
The first Needle-class destroyer was created in 2135 to replace aging models, and to give a more unified appearance to the union navy (at the time, all the station and the Carthage System still had the original or sec. gen. warships). The Needle-class was designed to be a light weapon, escort craft, and was built to be easily refitted over time. Another unique design aspect is a smooth, organic look. The reason behind this was more then just looks. This hull shape made it easier for the Needle to fly through nebulae.

The destroyer, along with other new starships, engaged pirate forces that had occupied Union space and had taken at least ten older Union warships, including 2 heavy cruisers, in 2140. With three Thunderheads, a Nighthawk-class carrier, and five Needle-class destroyers, the Union navy defeated the pirate group and imprisoned the groups leaders, banishing the rest to unclaimed space.

    Special Features
    Composite ceramic armor
    Tachyon-based communications
Multiple EM sensors (spread over hull)
    Spacial warp anti-gravity system

    Armament
4 duel heavy gun turrets (gun= multi-role warship weapon) (AP, Flak rounds)
6 gun turrets (AP, Flak rounds)
    6 Flak guns
    2 broadside torpedo tubes (missile)

    Standard Marine Equipment

    Stinger Modular Firearm:

The Stinger is the most rugged firearm used be the Nebulanic Union marines, though it has become a common civilian weapon. The core of the Stinger is a heavy pistol that with a clip placed in front of the grip to store ammo equivalent to the 5.56×45mm NATO. This clip placement was to help with controlling kick when the Stinger was used as a pistol. From this core, a multitude of modules could be added to the firearm, allowing the weapon's user to outfit the Stinger to fit there fighting style. Civilian versions are single fire semi-automatic weapons, while military versions can switch between single fire semi-auto, burst fire semi-auto, and full automatic. The modules include:
    Pipe stock/ Kama stock
    Light stock
    Battle rifle barrel
    Sniper barrel
    Bi-pod stand
    Tactical light/laser combo
    Various scopes
    Bayonet
    Grenade launcher

Appearance: (Yes. I based it off a Nerf gun.)

    "Boxer" 9mm handgun
A pistol with a squareish silhouette.

    Hand-to-hand weapons
    Tactical Tomahawk
    Kama
    Kamahawk (rare tomahawk, kama hybrid)
    Combat Knife
Union Flail: A Union Flail consists of two, lead filled handles connected by a two foot long chain or cord.

    Armor
Union armor consists of carbon nano tube fabric similar to kevlar with ceramic plates over the chest, groin, back, shoulders, upper and lower arms, and upper and lower legs. The armor also has a helmet that can withstand a 9mm handgun round.

    Explosives
    Fragmentation Grenades
    Half pound of C-4

    Dark Beta Armor

The Union's spec-ops unit, Dark Beta, was known to use unique pieces of armor for each of their agents. Though there are three distinct versions of Dark Beta Armor, the one uniting factor of all Dark Beta armor pieces is a covered face. Other unique features of the Beta's armor included retractable weapons, in-armor robotics, HUD systems, ect.... (Note: This will be different for A.I. and their Utility Hulls are often place into one of the types of armor.)

    Kinds
Light: Generally used by close-quarters combat and field tech specialists, the light variant of Beta Armor often lacks robotics and HUD systems while also often equipping arm-mounted, retractable weapons. The armor also has smaller pieces of ceramic plating then standard marine armor. Well Known Users: Sketch, Outlaw, Cobra (A.I.)

Standard: The most common Beta Armor, this variant of armor varies widely and is the most broad category of armor within Dark Beta. In general this armor is an upgraded version of standard marine armor that uses various Beta Armor upgrades. Well Known Users: Haywire, The Commander, Minuteman (A.I.), Pinpoint

Heavy: The not so common heavy variant of Beta Armor is known for its intimidating size and power, and for the low number of personnel that can actually operate the armor suits. These suits boast heavier armor and powerful in-armor robotics that grant the few Betas that use it extra strength and let them wield heavy weaponry with ease. This type of armor also tends to have a HUD and A.I. storage. Well Known Users: Brutus
