Good day to all of you. I have a relatively simple (I think) request to make. What I need is a flat rotor module with straight tunnel (see images attached), to make an accessible, spinning mid-section of the ship. The whole idea is the mid-section should be fitted between 2 such rotors, used in synch.

I can model to some extent (Google`s Sketchup is a wonderfull tool) and can draw, but can`t unwrap model and have no experience in importing model/scripting in game.

Is there any one willing to help?

Before you put more work into this: Knsgf's Ring Rotors don't suite your needs? They are not exactly what you want but they might work.

If you still want to know how rotors are set up your best bet is to import Keen's rotor models and study them. You can find the models in <SE>\Tools\ModelPack.zip in .fbx format. The block-definitions for the two halfs of a rotor are in <SE>\Content\Data\CubeBlocks.sbc (this is a textfile).

I`ve seen his Ring Rotors but that isn`t exactly what I need. His rotors are cool, but overly long and give no access to a rotating section. After some experiments, the model I want to see in game changed, like on the attached images. I can export this model to .obj or .3ds and make a simplified "construction stages" in the same manner, but that`s a limit of my abilities :(

7x7 is quite large. Just to put this into perspective (this is a static mockup, no moving parts):

Yep, figured that allready. Central tunnel should be a bit higher than 1 block and about 1 block wide. So, the whole model should shrink quite significantly. 5x5 seems more appropriate (there is enough space for conveyors between the coridor and the outer edge of the stator). The "nut" part probably, should look like this:

Made sort of mockup in SE (thanx for the idea). That`s the shape and functionality (sort of). Looks good I think, we should be able to build onward from this shape.

Plus, that somewhat simplifies the shape - cylindrical part of the stator would be straight, without an expansion at the end.

Just to link this back to the workshop: Knsgf implemented part of this design.

Thanx for the notice, will test it as soon as I get home.

Yep, tested the new rotor - works just fine. No smooth merge with the rest of the model, but that`s the least of my worries. Request closed - thanx for all interested in the topic and to Knsgf for his release.
