Respawn Ship Thumbnail No-Show

I've seen other postings with this mentioned as a side issue but never a thread dedicated to just this one issue, so I'm posting this issue specific thread.

In summary, I've got my respawn ship mod working how I want it, however the new thumbnail I've referenced in the respawnships.sbc file doesn't show up. As a starting point I've copied the existing planet drop pod thumbnail that's already there and renamed it, just to rule out color data and image size issues, however it still doesn't show up in the respawn screen. Does anyone have a mod that is successful in creating a new respawn ship thumbnail?

 

It's an old and well-known issue that Keen doesn't seem to give a shit about...
