SteamCMD - Anonymous SE Dedicated Server Pull ability

Is there any way we could pull the dedicated server (updated) via steamCMD without being logged in? As in to not have to authenticate and drop my existing steam login?


Also to not have to re-download the entire game in order to update the dedicated server?

I attempted to login as anonymous and pull the app update for 244850 and it threw me the no subscription error. Perhaps a dedicated server with its own app update number that doesn't require subscription in order to facilitate server updates?

 

Not as yet. As current you have to do a full install of SE in order to use SteamCMD to update the dedicated server portion.
I've never had steamCMD log me out of steam tho, you're allowed to be logged in multiple places.

You can make this a batch file like:
steamcmd.exe +login [steam login] [steam pwd] +force_install_dir [install dir, eg. C:\games\SpaceEngineers] +app_update 244850 +quit

But of course your server instance will need to be shut down

 

There is a dedicated server appID for anon login. Use app ID 298740. Works with anon login, but not with an actual user login. Been using it for awhile.

Also, this will only pull dedicated server files, not unnecessary client files.

 

Thank you both for your responses. I had only done a cursory search through steams dedicated server list and did not see Space Engineers. It seems I did not look hard enough.

Unfortunately this SE Dedicated Server (298740) is not updated as frequently as the game is. Catching version differences with what seems micro updates.

 

I'm not sure what you mean. I've been using 298740 for my live server and I've never had a version mismatch problem, even directly after hotfixes and updates.

Shows that every time 244850 updates manifest/public (AKA the main build), 298740 also updates. Keeping it up to date. Have you actually tried using it? Have you actually had issues with version mismatches?
