Why the official guide does not mention dedicated server tool on steam?

What is wrong with using +login anonymous +force_install_dir "C:\path\to\folder" +app_update 298740 validate +exit
to download and update the server ?
It looks like the dedicated server tool exists and is up to date.

I use:

D:\SteamCMD\steamcmd.exe +login "Beastion01" "*************" +force_install_dir D:\Space_Engineers\Stable +app_update 244850 +quit

Its Fine!

But i cant start a new instance since the update -.-

But you need to have a game on that account, I would like to not be logged out on my PC everytime server is updating dedicated server. Bu it looks like there is 298740 full dedicated server standalone and looks uptodate (also now works after update no problems)

*** Steamcmd [steamcmd.exe] requires a steam login for Space Engineers (the various references to being able to download the server files from Steam without a game license are incorrect)

Steam allows you authorize additional IP's to share you Steam Accounts credentials with another machine without installing the steam player client. When you login with your steam id using Steamcmd it will generate a verification code to the steam accounts associated email. you can enter the code directly into the steamcmd program window. (after that you can run it without the console as described above).

Sure thing @Razoic but the appid I mentioned is fort he dedicated server. Dedicated servers are generally tools not games and do not require any game purchase.

 

For the app id you're using you're missing a part, try:

+login anonymous +force_install_dir "C:\path\to\folder" +app_update 298740 -beta validate +exit < Stable branch
+login anonymous +force_install_dir "C:\path\to\folder" +app_update 298740 -beta develop validate +exit < Dev Branch
